Let's see your Leica M

I've just got back from an early morning trip into town to shoot some frames.

Thx, I'm getting back into it after using M6's for a while. I used to use colour exclusively but now I've got back into Tri-X and developing my own the M2 has come out of retirement.

Soft releases drive me bonkers. I'm always inadvertantly triggering the shutter. And if I'm putting the camera in a bag? Fuggetaboutit. I will lose 5 or 6 frames on a roll. And I also agree: They do not help me at all in using slower speeds. My pics are still blurry :)

I never cock the shutter after a click so it's never been a problem but that could indeed be a drawback!
 
Here's a friends M2. I'm sure he won't mind me sharing these. If I could have ONE M it would be this one. So many stories it could tell I'm sure and was owned by a great photographer. I used the finish as a basis for my M2.

I am really enjoying to follow your paint project ;-)

Here is two Luxes after having stripped down the focus mount of the pre ASPH, to get out the old gunk and have this one focussing smooth and nice + looking after that digital M mod of the rear element shroud now, considering buying own machines or finding good suppliers …

The pre ASPH focus mount is less than half complicated, than people on the internet try to make you believe - quite ingenious, yet simple, but not for hamfisters, to adjust for silky smooth focus ;-)

I was quite surprised, to find brass machining burrs inside (!) the lens + big amounts of dried up loctite from set screw securing. This lens has not been opened before - it was a virgin in this respect and was less well assembled than my last CLA the old Hektor 7.3cm.

Is this the Canada vs. Germany made paranoia, collectors pay insane prices for or just a lens, built on a Canadian Monday, eh?

Did I mention, that I love, how petite this little gem is?

I bought the pre ASPH Lux because of the insane sharpness and contrast + modern ASPH look of the 35 Lux ASPH.
Let's see, if this works out.

No worries dude. I sure enjoy the Ms. I prefer the M9 much better for 35/50mm-s. My wife opts for the M8 since it's easier for her for using 90/75mm-s. She doesn't like going upcloseandpersonal thing. :D
 
Well I'd like to one day have a wife who wants a Leica as well. But she would have to accept playing second fiddle because I ain't leaving the wife I have! :p

It is a no-name from Lemonsha (not exclusive to them, I have seen it elsewhere in Tokyo as well). Price was around 1200 yen - if memory serves me right. It it 10mm Ø.
I don't really like soft releases but the M6 is new to me, and I feel the release point of the shutter release is too low compared to my previous experiences with non-metered M's. The added extension this relase attachment provides the illusion of a "higher" release point.

I am really looking for a "release extension" of the same diameter as the release button. I have seen these a couple of times on used cameras on display in the Tokyo shops, but never seen them for sale individually.

What a combo! What's the story with the hood on the ASPH? Not sure I recognize it.
