Essential Cabin Luggage by nickdemarco, on Flickr
Off to Sicily in a few hours from some black and white street photography. This is the essential hand luggage. Click on the flickr photos to see what everything is: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickdemarcofoto/6241409267/in/photostream

Almost the same set I took to Tahiti recently. Swap out the M7 for a Retina 111c and it was a match. Have fun.

Sounds like fun. Good shooting to you.
Which Hadley is that that is big enough to hold the Leicas and an iPad?

I think it is called the Hadley Pro.
I managed to get all 3 cameras with their lenses in (M9 + 28 Summicron; M7+50 Summicron and XPan + 45mm), in each divider an additional lens (Zeiss 21mm, Voitlander 34mm and XPan 90mm), in the side pockets and on top of the partitions, 10 rolls of NeoPan, the dust cloth and the iPad2. This was all no problem and the bag did not look fat (which I avoided due to flying by Ryan Air and not wanting them to weigh it!)
I asked my travel companion to put the Voigtlander 75mm in his cabin luggage and I put the charger in my check in luggage

Looks like a good selection of weapons to bring. Have a fun trip!
I'm preparing for a long trip myself to Israel and Jordan. Here is my gear selection:
1. M7
2. M9
3. 35 'Cron ASPH
4. 28 Biogon ZM
5. 50 Planar ZM
6. VC 15mm
7. Leica X1
8. iPad (for the plane ride)
9. MacBook Air 11" (for uploading photos while in the hotel)
10. Lots of spare batteries and SD cards
All to fit in a Domke satchel. I thought of taking the Nokton 1.2 as well, but I thought it would be too heavy for day trips.

Nice kit for sure.

To much "stuff" it will slow you down and make you fiddle more with gear than relax and be ready to take a good shot.

In my essential cabin baggage I normally have less camera stuff (I mean, come on, seven lenses in 21, 28, 35, 45, 50, 75 and 90mm, and three bodies?).
Instead I take a toothbrush, a set of spare underwear and a T-shirt in case I get stuck at a stopover airport, usually a book, and I prefer a laptop to a tablet because you're less limited.
My camera kit on the way is usually either a M5 plus a 21 and 50 (possibly a FED-2 as a backup body), or a Leica R5 with the 35/50/90 combination, or if I feel like I have enough space a 5D with usually three out of a 17, a 50, a 24-105 and a 70-200.
The interesting question, however, is why you take two passports!

re: 2 passports -- some of us carry dual citizenship and hence two passports. Not sure about Nick, but that's what comes to mind for me.

A nice kit, but I would not call it essential...ok,
this is just my point of view !

I think it's OK to take 3 bodies, but not so many lenses. I have exactly the same body count (2 Leicas) when I travel, but only 2 lenses (28 and 50), and an MF.
At other times I carry 1 Leica body + the same 2 lenses, my Hexar AF or Klasse W and the MF.

Haha
2 passports is mine and my partners
Re the too much gear - it's more I like to have some choice in the hotel before I go out - I don't walk the streets with all that stuff! Generally take two bodies (one film, one digital) with two lenses and perhaps one spare wide lens in the bag when doing the streets so it doesn't get in the way at all
Forgot to mention one of the essentials - the iPhone - which was in my pocket, as it means I have a nice camera (with Hipstamati Ap) all the time
