My 6 month love affair with the M9-P

one question: do you find it difficult to get natural colors from m9 compared to d700?

ps: i was curious about the lfi gallery shot but the link on your blog doesn't take me to it. post more photos on your blog it will be nicer.

Thank you for your comment. I shoot RAW, and have to say that I am very happy with the colors of the M9. I have not done a side by side comparison with the D700 files though. A nice write up and an enjoyable read. For my limited time of ownership it was always in the back of my mind 'when is it going to breakdown?' I know the majority have been fine with no issues but for the cost of initial purchase and possible repairs this was to me an unacceptable feeling. Always feeling that I had to have another camera with me just in case.
I'm sticking with Nikon for digital and colour and using my film Leica's solely for home developed black and white.
I'll buy another digital M when I have faith in them.

Thank you for your kind comments. I understand what you mean, by reading all the negative things about it, I was a bit jumpy too when it came to reliability but I have had no real issue. I use it almost every day. The only issue I had was with the memory card, the first card I had was one of the Sandisk problem cards. Since then I switched to Panasonic Gold Pro, have had no issues at all with these, have both 8GB and 16GB.

Good to hear and I really hope Leica do sort out the niggles. Enjoy your M9P and for what it's worth I think it looks much nicer than the M9. I've no doubt that Leica had it in mind when the original concept was being made.
Sell some full frame cameras and after we have created an interest, let them have what it should have looked like in the first place.
Would anyone buy a new M6 at 500 euro less than an MP? of course not. j
 
The M9P carries a different Leica part number than an M9- so it is a different model.

There are differences between the MP and the M6. The finder of the M6 can be upgraded to that of the MP. An M6 with an MP finder upgrade- someone might choose it at a $700 savings over an MP. I'm sure M9 sales are still strong, even with the M9P out. I do not feel the need to upgrade mine, but I do like the classic engraving of the M9P.
 
As of last Friday I'm a new M9 owner and I'm, frankly, blown away by it. My M8 was excellent but this is just something else. I toyed with the idea of an M9-P briefly but I got such an amazing deal on the M9 it made no sense for me.

I love the looks of the M9-P but I'm also enjoying the look of my basic M9 compared to the M8. All in all I feel like I'm now truly walking around with a digital version of my old M6 bodies, a feeling I didn't get with my M8.

I'm glad you're still enjoying the M9-P after six months and hope we both feel the same after 3/4 years of ownership.

Quite. The M8 was good because it meant I didn't have to use a DSLR. I was even contemplating a 24 Summilux to get a fast wide-angle. But then the M9 came out and I had all my old lenses back (15-18-21-28-35-50-75-90-135), along with the Viso. But I still like the close-focusing 100 (75) and 180 (135) on the M8, even though I know I could crop the M9.

Hard to believe that I've had the m8 for almost 2 years now. And the M9 for 8 months. i still like, and use both. I tend to use the M8 with 50mm and 85mm lenses, the M9 with 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm, and 105mm lenses.
