Yashica GSN with question

I picked up this Yashica Electro 35 GSN today. This is the cleanest used GSN I have seen since buying one new in the 70's.

I replaced the POD but was wondering if all of these models have such a long throw to the shutter button. All I have owned has to have the shutter button pressed to the bottom of its travel to trip the shutter. Is there a way to adjust it so the shutter will trip before reaching the bottom?

I imagine it's that long because before firing, its first part is used for the overexposure light, and its second part for the underexposure light...

I have one and the shutter needs to be pushed down a lot before it fires. It's a bit of a pain but you adapt after a while.

Yes, it's a long stroke on the shutter release button. During the stroke it engages a series of switch contacts in sequence, then releases the shutter.

I sold one on eBay 3 years ago to a RFF member who then left me negative feedback because of the long shutter button travel.

He referred to it as shutter lag..

Is the shutter tripping before the button is COMPLETELY down, or is it just barely tripping with the button passed all the way down. It should trip with a little bit of travel left to go. If you have to really mash it down to get it to trip, then it is not right.

It trips as it reaches the bottom of the travel. I don't have to force it though.

That's astounding. Digital values in an analog venue, I suppose.

Buyers should research cameras they buy. All FL RF's with AE I've used have rather long travel shutter release.

This person did not know how to use the camera from the start. He asked me what the POD was and why there was no manual mode..
