They replied, the collapsible bit was a typo. The listing says the lens was made in 1948 so is it possible to tell from that whether this will be the lens with the black barrel or the all silver Serenar type lens?
I suspect it'll be the all silver lens as to my uneducated eye the black barrelled lenses look 'newer' but this source, http://www.canon.com/camera-museum/history/canon_story/1946_1954/1946_1954.html suggests the 50mm f1.8 Serenar didn't come into production until 1951.
With shipping the lens will cost me around $240 or £150 with maybe some import duty to pay too. Seem like a good deal?
