Canon ltm 50mm f1.8

So what would a heavy chrome (non serenar) version of this lens fetch in the classifieds do people think?

Um... nearly anywhere. New from Cameraquest or Leica, or any number of eBay sellers. Any 50mm LTM-M adapter will work. I use chromed brass Chinese eBay versions, never had issues with focus or fit.

Just picked up a version 2 w/meters (f/22) and haze on the first surface of the rear group. Hopefully I can get it cleaned up, I want to get my 50s down to Canon 50/1.2 and 1.8 or maybe the 1.2 and a J-8 if the Canons are too similar.

It is hard to imagine the Canons will be very similar; the 1.2 is a pretty wacky lens. I like mine and need to use it more, but it has not been my idea of a general purpose lens. The 1.8 should be a nice all around, well corrected lens with much better edge performance. I'm starting to care a bit less about that lately, but it is certainly something nice to have when you need it.

So, I've got some haze on my copy as well. I opened the lens up, but it's all on the elements in front of the aperture. I don't know how to get there. I did remove the front-retainer ring, but that allowed me only to the very first elemnt.
Does anyone know how to get to the elements in front of the aperture blades (coming from the rear of the lens)?

In viewing the photos in this thread I think the lens handles flare well. But I'm curious how people think the Canon deals with flare if a lens hood isn't used. My Canon Serenar copy was just repaired/cleaned but I don't have a hood. I'm excited to use it on my upcoming trip to Texas to see/photograph my pregnant friend but I'm a little anxious about late afternoon light. Thoughts?

I don't have a hood either, and I haven't really noticed any problems with flare. Here's a wide-open test shot with a flashlight free to flare away:

Also in my "House and Trees" shot a few posts back, there was some pretty harsh sun coming from the side. I may have shaded the lens with my hand.

I have a chrome non-Serenar version with clear glass though slightly scratched front lens and it seems to work great. I also recently picked up a version 3 that looks mint but came with some internal haze that cleaned nicely. Both lenses were purchased within the last few months for less than $100 each.

In the past I had a Serenar chrome version that had the internal haze but as mentioned, it was an easy job to clean it and it was like new. I traded it off but the recent purchases solved that issue.

just grabbed one of these for £125 it seems haze free, will see if that is the case on arrival😱
