The version II should come with its hood (small, compact, screw in hood).
The hood for the version II works quite nicely on my version I Elmar 50/2.8.

Man, does that DOF scale ever look better on the older version. I use my Elmar II a lot, and that is the one thing that I find lacking.
I did not know that there exists a 3.5 Elmar M before. This is interesting.
I've enjoyed my 50/3.5 Elmar from 1956 and continue to shoot with it - currently attached to an MP. Occasional flare was an issue with this uncoated lens but I found a hood and it's been fine since. Here are a few examples...
