Let's see your Leica M

I'm a new proud owner of an used M9... I'm looking forward to add more brassing/patina to it :)

Ha!

The best-read thread on RFF has finally made it to the 'stickies'! :D

I'll see if I can upload a nice shot to celebrate it.

Here's my urban shooting setup

Here's my urban shooting setup

My chrome Leica M6TTL. Bought brand new in 2010, believe it or not - I walked into a typical camera emporium in downtown Kuala Lumpur and they had one Leica M6TTL and one R6.2 in a display case. I actually wanted to buy the R because I was just using SLRs at the time, but when I came back 2 weeks later, having done some web research, I decided to go for the M.

When I asked the first time around, they said it was MYR5,000 (about USD$1,450). When I came back later they said MYR6,500. Sneaky! I negotiated and bought it, anyway, because let's face it - how often do you come across brand new M6's these days? I don't use it as much as I should cos being brand new it's more like a jewel than a tool.

Wouldn't mind swapping it for a mint black M6 (TTL or classic), actually.

M6ttl with 28mm Elmarit R

M6ttl with 28mm Elmarit R

I don't have any money but I do have 2 Leica R lenses. So I thought I'd be cheeky and just get a Fotodiox adapter. It works very well. And I think the 28mm FOV just rocks on the M, so much so that I might just save up and buy a real M lens. Currently my M lens collection is full but a bit weird:
28mm (R) / 35mm (Color Skopar) / 50mm (R) / 90mm (Summicron)

I think eventually I should like to have just the 28mm Elmarit M, and a 50mm C-Sonnar.

Hmmmm... "Lunch" is interesting there :D After the M6 moneys evaporated? :D Welcome to the Mysterious World of M-Leicas.

(Congrats Ruhayat, just kidding. I have a .85 Classic Black, still new, unused. Bought it in 1998 but I think it's still possible to find new M6's around.)

:D I work in advertising so most of the time lunch is minimal and on the run.

Unused? Pass it here... I'll look after it for you. When I first got the M6, the only lens I had was a 90mm Summicron. Used that for a year, which was not that hard since I treated it like a long 50mm. But that .85 finder would have come in handy back then. In fact, it would come in handy even now.

Here's my beater M6 with black dot and M3 wind lever... Shot was taken with my new X-Pro 1 - a camera that I am really enjoying.
