Wow Cal, didn't think my beat up pentax made such a impression!!! Looking forward to seeing the new camera. BTW thanks for pushing me over on Diafine. The stuff is amazing!!
It left a "Big" impression. Basically I ordered a entire kit. Already have a late version 55/4.0, 105/2.4, P67II body with non-metered prism, hot shoe grip, and a Op-tech neck strap that I got for free.
A massive KEH order comes tomorrow that includes hoods, a AE metered prism, a folding hood prism, a 200/4 latest version.
I will PM you with contact info. John and I are heading into Coney Island mucho early. We'll meet-up at 59th Street and Lexington to take the train together. We figure we'll hook-up at 7:00 AM.
Diafine will give you results that resemble large format when shooting 120. BTW I found that minimizing aggitation provides the best results. I only perform 2 very gentle inversions every minute. Also with use Diafine gets better with use as it gets seasoned. As it gets to resemble foamy beer piss the mid-tones get more pronounced. Right now I have about 40-45 rolls of film to process, and you can only imagine how much developer I would be pouring down the drain if I were still using solvent developers.
Anyways who needs large format when you own and use a heavy beast like a Pentax. LOL.

Hi all,
This is great a thread were all the New Yorker's are hanging out! I would like to make
that parade, I heard it's really great fun.
Range
Please come if you can. I've made many good friends and made many great photographs because of the NYC Meet-Up.
The only really bad thing that's kinda evil is the GAS. LOL.
Also anyone want to hook-up for the almost hour train ride is welcome to join John and I, but you gota be at the corner of 59th and Lex at 7:00 AM.

John overheard someone tell another, "Look at the size of that camera." LOL.

Back when I had my Fuji G690BL I heard that quite a bit. People also expected it to be loud and were surprised when it was all but perfectly silent. I loved riding on the subway with that 65mm lens, camera loaded with 3200 Delta. That is just a killer low-light setup that is amazingly quiet.
I don't have my annoying outfit with me and I'm still up in Jersey City at the moment. I'm wanting to spend the whole week up here in the NYC area which will preclude the obnoxious tourist getup, complete with 4x5 and flashgun, that I had planned. I just don't want to go back to Philly tomorrow only to return to NYC on Friday evening. I'll see what I can swing. Keep your fingers crossed, all!

I gotta see your pictures of each other...this is going to be a hoot!![]()
Dave,
This is like NYC's Marty-Graws. More like "HOOTERS." Basically its an art parade, but there's all kinds of exhibitionism.
For some strange reason there's this huge concentration of old film cameras.
Also there are massive amounts of police because the place gets mobbed. By the time the parade begins most of all the good shooting is done. Going early is the best.

Hopefully everything works out. Just come with any camera.
BTW I have a Fuji GL690 and a GM670, but when compared to the Pentax 67II they seem rather light.
I also happen to have an extra Fuji G690BL that has been CLA'ed, but the 65mm lens needs an overhaul. If you want another Fuji Rig like you had I can offer you one dirt cheap. As you know I've been down sizing as my cameras get bigger. I can offer you a special deal.

At the last Meet-Up I brought a minty chrome Leica IIF and a black paint II (model D) Barnack that had chrome knobs I just secured. At that time I also had a line on an earlier black paint Barnack that was rumored to have nickel knobs.
John was wise to secure the black paint Leica II if I needed to XS or returning it to secure yet another Barnack. The third Barnack I smoked out happen to be a rather remarkable 1934-1935 Leica III (Model F) that was all brassed out and featured nickel knobs that displayed brassing from use.
Anyways, somehow I ended up trading 4 bodies and 4 lenses for another vintage Bruce Davidson print from an art dealer friend, and somehow it feels like I day traded the all the Barnacks because I owned them for such little time that I never even got to put any film through any of the.
Anyways just another crazy New York story.

My girlfriend (I have been living in sin with a good Catholic girl for over 14 years) call me "Evil Calvin" or E.C. for short. She knows I'm a bad boy.
Anyone who comes to a NYC Meet-Up gas to be aware of all the potential for GAS. No mercy I say.

Get well soon George.
BTW I had Chelsea Photographic make a few large fiber prints for me shot with my Rollei. Now my girlfriend is hounding me for more and is encouraging me to build a portfolio of 18x18 square prints.
I shoot a lot, but I'm guilty of being like Garry Winnogran. Too many Negatives, no editing, and not many prints. LOL.
This seems to annoy many people. LOL.

I barely have anything printed. Probably ~60 prints total and all but 20 are groups of prints for different sized portfolios. So maybe ~40 different images printed total out of ~30,000 film frames and ~20,000 digital. I actually have no idea how many frames I've exposed in my archive of photos. I shoot everything and do so very little with it. Probably 1% wind up being posted somewhere.

My girl bought me a light table. This is all I need to visualize and do a rough cut. It annoys here to no end that I can't share my photographs with her. I know I'm just a selfish artist. LOL.
Anyways this is perhaps why she offered to buy me a M9 when it first came out. LOL.
Anyways the moral of the story is: Being a selfish artist sometimes pays. Otherwise I'm known to be a rather generous person/fool.

Thanks, Cal!
Chelsea Photographic printed all my Paris prints, 14x14 on 16x20 paper. I made nice digital scans of some of the negatives, but the silver gelatin prints look so much better. I just wish I could afford to have all my favorite photographs printed by Chelsea. I have several rolls shot in Rome last spring....

I wish I could afford more prints, but the real killer is professional framing involving "museum glass."
Anyways get well soon.

A few yeas ago I had the chance to exhibit and had 2 dozen prints framed. I have had a couple more shows since then and reused the frames. It was expensive, and I did not use museum glass!

I have one of my prints framed and displayed at home, and I know a show of 18-24 shots of my work shot of desolate areas of LIC would make quite a statement. So fare I've edited it down to 45 images as a rough cut, but I still need to do a fine cut, and of course the money is a problem.
Now my girl wants more prints.

Why not go with linhof 8x10, fully loaded kit would be around 35lbs, Pentax 67 is lightweight-
I hauled up to palisade hill top overlooking the power planet once, vow never do the leg work again.

Trying to avoid LF, but the only thing that stops me is money. Already culled down my 35mm cameras to only two M-bodies and a Nikon F3P, so its a step in that direction.
If I go LF it will be 8x10 and also I happen to have a Linhof fetish. 4x5 or 5x7 is not big enough. LOL.
BTW I'll be shooting all that color slide film I got from you at the Mermaid Parade. Thanks again for the cool deal.
Will likely also bring my Fuji GM670 that currently is getting serviced at Nippon with the Pentax 67II. 100/3.5 on the Fuji (50mm equiv. Tessar) and 200/4.0 on the P67II (105mm equiv.).

So, I found a place to stay for the week and I'm definitely going to be at the Mermaid Parade.
That said, I have a few days to kill starting tomorrow and if anyone wants to do a photo death march or two with me, I'm going to be exploring some new territory. I'm staying in Astoria, so I figure I'll just walk south shooting all the way.
Cal, you have my number. Anyone else want it, send me a PM.
