Two Leica cameras stuck together

The file name says WWII, I can't find the website I got it from, it was an Italian website showing mostly famous people with Leicas.

Looks like some kind of hinge mechanism to allow the cameras to be tilted toward each other for changing film.

With the Mauser alone, it might go back to the 19th century. I hope he did not have one up the spout.

I dropped a camera off my shoulder once in Paris, and the shutter fired as it hit the granite in front of Notre Dame.

Interesting combination, the ammunition for all may be soon hard to find.

I am quite certain it is - the rank (as evident by the uniform) is grossly mismatched to the personal equipment (cameras and gun).

Yes - the contraption is made from aluminium bar and box sections and nuts and bolts - all standard types. If you have drill press or a good vice and a power drill you could make something like this fairly easily. With a small milling machine something far neater would be possible.

It needs a re-build to simplify the arrangement, partly because one of the cameras (an SP) gets through batteries and so I either need to swap the camera over for another model or have a quicker means of getting at the base. The re-build has been delayed by other duties and once I've created some space in the garage where some of my machine tools lurk I'll make another version.

The design was based on the photo from that earlier thread cited above.

Without knowing the existence of the dual LTM combo I crafted this device in 1987 to secure my M6 and my M4-P together.
After a 6 week trip in the USA I just got tired of the 2 cameras banging against one another so I invented this (all hand made, no milling machine was available to me at that time):
