Thanks very much for all the advice/encouragement - I placed my orders today, for the X-Pro1 with the 18-55mm zoom, grip, 3x cards, 3x batteries and the lensmate thumb-gadget. The 18-55 isn't in stock just now, but I have proof of the order so I can at least apply to Fuji for the 35mm f1.4 while I'm waiting - could be that the prime will arrive before the zoom; either way I'll be a happy chappy. Can't wait to get my hands on it all...

I don't think Fuji will offer a bigger sensor. The APS-C sensor puts many larger sensors to shame, considering the extra cost of such sensors. And the Fuji lenses are full-frame for the sensor size in any case.
please correct me if i am mistaken but as far as i know the longer lenses can cover a full frame sensor while wider lenses do not. Operations manager Hiroshi Kawahara said so in an interview.
as a x-pro1 user i would still go for the x-pro1. But for someone who hasn't bought one yet i would suggest the x-e1 because using the OVF takes time to get used to and you can only use the OVF if you intend use fuji lenses.

the ovf is easy to get used to if one is used to using a rangefinder.
