I'm moving up to Vancouver (actually Ridgefield,) Washington next week and would love to get together with some fellow members in the PDX area.

I live in a suburb of Portland, Oregon and would love to get together with you. Ridgefield is about 45 minutes away from me. There are some great places around here to go shooting and I'd be happy to show you some of them.

There are a few other RFF members from Portland and maybe they'll jump in as well.

I am just across the river from Vancouver. My wife's parents live near Ridgefield. I have not done an rff meet-up yet, but this seems like as hood as time as any to start.

I've been an instigator of RFF meets in the few cities I've lived in since I joined the forum.

Last spring when I came out to the PDX area to shoot my friends Mike and Teri's wedding, I took a day to just walk around Ridgefield and found the National Wildlife Preserve along the Columbia River. An outstanding little day walk out among the flora and fauna of the river. I've never really been shooting out in Portland but have all over Seattle. I lived in Oak Harbor for a few years back when I was in the Navy and took photos all over the Skagit River estuary and the islands up there.

December will be open for me for a meet up but I expect that most in the area will be busy during the holiday season. If anyone wants to suggest a date to meet up I'm game for anything as of right now.

Thanks all!

So, I'm here now. I say we try to get a meeting going, any takers? Since I'm new to the area, I'll hand over venue ideas to someone else. I know the Doug Fir, Dots, The Goodfoot, and the Horse Brass. Id say the Horse Brass would be good but if anyone has any other suggestions I'm sure they would work too.

NOt going to be able to do a pdx or Vancouver meet this month--new pup in family & children visiting--but keep me in mind, and if any of you come down to Eugene / Lanee County, be sure to pm me or email rohilong (at) gmail.

I'm good for the Horse Brass! I'm familiar with that area and I actually go to that part of town very frequently. Believe it or not, it's close to the other venue where I met with two other RFF members a couple years ago for drinks and discussion.

My schedule is somewhat open at this point so feel free to suggest dates/times that will work for you.

@Robert - I used to travel to Eugene fairly often as my daughter was a student at U of O. She graduated this past summer, so don't really go down there much anymore, but I wish I had known you were there when I made regular travels to Eugene.

This sounds like it could he a lot of fun to get together with other RFF members again!

@ellen. I've been at UO since 1991 except 2 lost years at Penn State. Mostly teaching creative writing but in the past few years a research admin. I'd be happy to bookmark the pdx/rff group if you all will post there when you organize meetups. Driving up to pdx for a weekend shoot is appealing! Thought about it yesterday but this pup is 6 weeks old and I don't know how well she'd take to spending the day in a shoulder bag....

Robert,

A friend of mine who does agility training for dogs may be able to watch your pup while you're up here meeting with other RFF members. She doesn't live too far from the proposed meeting places. I can ask her if she would be willing to do that if you feel your pup can handle a day away from his/her usual home.

Another vote for Horse Brass, I am in the Inner NE (Irvington) area of PDX.
Next weekend would be great- but we are headed out of the wetness the 21st , for the holidays
- St. Johns, St. Johns, USVI that is :D

15th or 16th works for me. I told a friend of mine "we're going to the Horse Brass this weekend to meet up with some Portland area photographers" and he said "sure. We can go tonight too. We don't even need a reason to!" So yeah, I'm up for the Horse Brass one afternoon/evening this weekend. Someone throw out which day works better.

You're tempting me from Seattle!
:D

2pm on Sunday afternoon (12/16) would be ideal for me.

2nd choice would be 5pm on Sat (12/15)

Any takers? Either of these days work for me. Sunday would be quieter but we may get more people in the evening on Saturday.

Phil Forrest

Saturday won't work for me as I'm committed to attending a holiday party that starts at 6 PM.

Sunday works for me but I may be late as I have a horseback riding lesson in Oregon City just prior to that time.
