Oregon Portland, OR Cameras and Coffee

Our next rendezvous is just 10 days away! Who will come this time?!

Our rendezvous will be on Saturday, April 5th, at 12 noon.

Location: Taborspace Cream Coffee + Bakery

5441 SE Belmont St. Portland, OR 97215

All are welcome!

I wish I could bring that overhauled Contax II with me but I do not think it will be this meet-up. You'll have to settle for me and whatever I can find. That Pixii has to be somewhere in the house. I'll bring it if I can find it.

Miles and Max showed up and we all closed the joint around 4:00. We had a vote and decided that cameras are all done and it's phones now. ;o)
Maybe Lomography will come out with a phone that loads with Minox film. And one with a sticky note pad so you can leave text messages.
And a Rotary Dial.
I'll bet there would be the counter-culture that would buy this. We'll use a Sonnar design lens.

Is B&H taking orders against future delivery? I'm on board for this one.

I think we can do a virtual rotary dial in firmware, using the touch screen.
Using film will save on firmware development and memory requirements.

Assembly Language for the low-level stuff, Fortran+C or upper level code. I did a whole GUI in Fortran where Screen Memory was mapped into a Common Block by rewriting the Page Table Entries.

Man, you should have done it in COBOL. LOL You are out there in Wizard Guru land with that stuff. I did some C family coding but it was simple classroom stuff and I never was happy about it. That did not help my career at P@B. AL is a real language, I kind of think of the C family as a kludge. Anyway, I know you got it to run seamlessly and that is what we get paid for. Error prone code is cheaper. ;o)

Alright, everyone, our June rendezvous is coming up:

Our next meeting is on Saturday, June 7th, at 12 Noon!

Location: Taborspace Cream Coffee + Bakery

I swear I'm not always busy on Saturday, but I'm often busy on planned meetup days 😥

My dear aunt used to say, "A poor excuse is better than none at all." I hope you can make it. Miles and I had a tough time holding off the French Language Club last month. They kept speaking French and trying to steal our cameras.

OK, the Incorrigibles showed up, Miles and I. It was a pleasant get together. There was a comfortable exchange of views and coffee drinking. Miles wrestled me to the ground, twisted my arm behind my back, put a knee into the space between my shoulder blades and made off with my Skyllaney Bertele Sonnar. And as soon as I can find the Pixii I will mail it off to him. I had promised both but was unable to find the Pixii. Miles had a sweet OM1, looked like brand new. I just had the old, beat up M9 and the Contax II. Both great basic cameras.

It's pretty rough to be 86'ed from a coffee bar but that is what happened. It was all Miles' fault.

Same time, same place next month.

OK, Miles cannot make the 5 July meet. But I will drive up from Astoria and drag along some analog and some other sundry stuff. I hope to see some other folks, the ones who survived the BBQ eating festivities of the 4th. Come, drink coffee, share and tell lies.

OK, reminder that 5 July is the next get-together at Taborspace for the PDX Camera Group. There will be a latte raffled off for some lucky participant. Miles will be off camping, fending off bears in the PNW wilderness.
