Camera and watch

All great pictures. Some very nice watches too. I would guess, being a watch enthusiast, that the Patek Phillepe is by far the most expensive, and a very fine watch indeed! That being said, I have about 26 watches, most in the $800 to $1500 range. I would love the above mentioned watch but certainly out of my manageable price range! However, I own some $25 to $150 watches that I love and wear often. My wife loves the Rolex I bought for her, but I don't get the whole Rolex thing. Each to their own; and most love what they have! I, for one, can hardly wait to buy my first Leica, though many don't get that. As long as we all love and use what we have; it's all good, right?

Well said. I have a simialr range and number of watches, the most valuable being my 1976 Tudor Monte Carlo (like Rolex Daytona) and the one worm most daily, other than a number of vintage Swatch watches, is a 1960s Enicar. It's the tactile thing again for me: wind a watch, load a fountain pen, load a Leica or other manual mechanical camera...all the same wonderful tactile experience. Now looking for a 1960s -1970s Heuer Autavia which would match up with my 1970 Leica M4. Good good luck getting your first Leica: do it!

Excellent thread.
I don't know a Casio from a Rolex, but I enjoy looking at the beautiful watches and cameras, and appreciate the education also.

I haven't worn any of my watches in years, I have a drawer full of them, but this thread is urging me to pull one or another out into the light.

I think you would be surprised at how many good watch makers make a "sterile" dial. That is, a dial with no markings other than the hour markers. In fact, many watchmakers charge more for a "sterile" face than the regular, branded dial.

But, it is pretty easy to tell a Rolex from a Casio in any situation.
