Help With Decision!

A while ago I broke down and bought a nice M4-P. I've got a Canon 50mm f1.4 on it & another Canon 100mm f3.5 in the bag. After 9 rolls I still can't move it into the "love" column. I'm not without RF experience, I have Kodak Retinas, Yashica Electro 35s, a FED-2d, a Koni-Omeag Rapid M, as well as a couple(!) of Nikons. When I think of the cameras I couldn't live without, it's not on the list, so... I find I'm shooting more MF now & had thoughts of ktrying to trade the Leica for a Mamiya 6. Any suggestions?

Go for it, and have fun. Unless the M4 is crucial to what you want to get accomplished, then I see no harm in selling it for something you feel will be more useful. A few will post here stating that you'll buy it back later, etc. and that might be true, but prices for M4 bodies only go up a couple of hundred every 5 years or so.

Trade it in. If it ain't for you, it ain't for you, though I'd not go for the Mamiya myself: after all, you have the Koni-Omega, so why get a camera with a smaller format?

Or, of course, if you don't mind having the money tied up, put the M4 to one side and see if you miss it...

Maybe Leica range finders are not for you. It took me sometime to get used to the bottom loading but I love mine and the results I get.
I mainly shoot informal portraits and street.

My R8 is a techno wonderland compared to my M4-P and M3.
Switch it to program mode and all you need to worry about is focus. The meter is that good.
I can burn through a roll of 36 exposures in seconds. 🙄 $$$$$

What do you want from your photography? Know that and you'll know what gear to keep or sell.

For me it's the pure pleasure of creating images that I share with my family and friends. No big thing...
I have no fixed formate for doing that because every situation is different.
I use medium format (Hassy 903), R8 and Leica Ms.

What I'm trying to say is... Find what makes you happy in photography and do that.

You know what, you may jolly well miss your M4-P for the "Leica Experience" if you trade it...

But hey you might like the Mamiya 6 even more!😉

Why not borrow the Mamiya 6 to try whether you like it first or not? Haha... Good luck whichever decision you make!
