Is there a camera / or camera + lens combo that you always carry with you everyday, no matter where you go? If so, which one? These days, I keep a Contax Aria, a 35mm lens, and a small flash in a small shoulder bag. In the past, I have slugged around other set ups. It's nice just to have in case the world's greatest photo happens to cross your path on the way to Subway for lunch.

Odd you should mention Subway; I once encountered Bigfoot and Elvis leaving a Subway, heading back to their flying saucer. Of course, I had no camera, but that lost shot induced me to now carry, always, a Pentax MX with a 40mm, loaded with Tri-X.

For much of the year it has been the Monochrom and Summilux 35. Last year it was mostly the M9-P and Summaron M 28: both light lenses and compact. The year before I was taking the IIIf and 50 Elmar: even lighter and more compact. I go through phases.

With my smartphone I never feel without a camera, but I guess that wasn't what you were thinking about.
If I bring my shoulder bag (which is almost always) I have my Olympus PEN S permanently residing in a pocket, and if I don't need the space for other stuff, it will also hold my Fuji X100F.

Olympus XA4 if I'm going to the store.
Leica M4-P + Summilux 35mm pre asph if I'm going further

About ten years ago I outsourced this job to my mobile phone ;)
An ultracompact Fuji F900EXR with 25-500mm lens lives in my bag for the various demands of focal lengths.
Both can do panoramic shots also.

Right now, it is either the Fujifilm X-Pro3 or GFX-50R. I do have a Ricoh GR IIIx on order and I think that will get a lot of everyday use from me once it arrives.

iPhone 13 Pro Max, always with me. Small Lumix superzoom ZS60 in center console of the car all the time for when I want tele. Next in line is Sony A6000 goes with me sometimes for better quality.

It varies but I do almost always keep a camera with me everywhere, everyday. Usually it's a Fuji X-Pro2 with a normal lens. Sometimes a Nikon D??? with a 24-85mm zoom. Or something smaller like an X100S or a GRII.

Being a big believer in the value of light and how it's always changing, I often carry a camera around the house. The most commonplace objects can look different at different times.

Started with Canon 500D (2009), then switched to 5D, then back to 500D, then XA, then R, then M4-2. Then M-E 220, then E-PL1, then RP, then GRD III and currently I rotate 5D MKII, M-E 200, RP, E-PL1 and one of the two GRD.
Planning to switch from 5D MKII and Ls to weather sealed, freeze proofed m43 camera.

I'd rather leave mobile phone at home than camera.

It used to be a Nikon CoolPix 995. Had that camera where ever I went. People would notice when I didn't have it with me and ask 'Where's your camera?'.
Now, it's gotten to the point I will use my iPhone 7. I used to carry an SD1000 everywhere no matter what. But that's not the case any more.

Leica IIIA, 21 f4 Super Angulon be it day or night

I love the 21mm for walking around. With a normal lens, I often need to step back to capture a scene, and other objects intervene and distract (I say "I", because it relates to my shooting style, for others 50mm is probably perfect for instance). With the 21mm I can step into a scene and capture it.

Whjen travelling these days it is a Retina IIIc w/ 50mm f2 Heligon. My ultimate back-up is the iPhone. I.e., if I encountered "Bigfoot and Elvis leaving a Subway, heading back to their flying saucer", I would prefer my iPhone to nothing.
