hmmm... build looks sweet
Rendering a little too bland, Clean, little character & funky bokeh

but maybe someone will blow my mind with it's rendering

Each time I see Erik's photosI think " I do really need that lens" soon later I remember it is the photographer not the lens...

excellent photo Erik, it must be a satisfaction to have this print in your hands !

PS: I like how the lens renders colours and focus in the last photo.

I was looking forward to this lens because of the LTM option (and the black paint/nickel option).
So far - its properties, as far as I have seen, have not impressed me (not commeting on the motifs above - all lovely).
I hope to see qualities that will sway me, and will follow this thread.

I find it to be a "solid" lens, both in terms of build and rendering. It is nothing fancy - no amazing bokeh (f2.8!), slight old-school swirl, very sharp at the plane of focus, good color rendition...In short, a great daily-carry lens for my little IIIa.

There are too many excellent lenses, Robert!
We can't buy them all and then find the time to use them all too. :)

It is a common misunderstanding that there is a relationship between the quality of bokeh and maximum aperture, there is not.

But, regardless; it great that you like it, that is all that matters.

I think you’ve maybe read more into my statement than I intended.
What I meant is that none of the bokeh-fetishists would choose this lens for “bokeh” because of its minimum aperture. In fact, the f2.8 max aperture is a reason NOT to buy it.

Irregardless of the fact that the quality of the background rendering is independent from the maximum aperture.

i'm sure this lens will do the trick for many. I'm more inclined to have my mind blown by a well-printed, finely composed photograph, than by lens characteristics.

Indeed , a Beautiful Print is to be Greatly admired
regardless of what lens
BUT
if the photo fails in Content, & Atmosphere, or an Emotive quality to pull the Viewer in
to my 'Eye' it holds no value... Nothing to be desired (even in print !)

"finely composed photograph"......

I guess we are on different wavelengths which is Fine
To me a "finely composed photograph" can be boring

Photography for Me is all about the moment captured and it's CONTENT
It's content and how it speaks and draws a Viewer in.

I have seen perfectly composed photos that say nothing
I have seen photos with camera shake, motion blur,
off in the combo of aperture ,shutter speed ,film iso
and yet it can work !
The Emotive quality of the photo pulls You in and it is Brilliant.

Thankfully for me, It's not about perfect exposure, perfect framing, perfect camera
It's about 'Seeing' and making use of the moment.

Sometimes mistakes can be a Gem...

....... Here I like the photos of Pan Giannakis for example or Karlin,.... back in time... photos Cartier Bresson.... Vittorio Sella.
Anything else you'd like to argue about?

Silly You
I am not arguing... we are having a discussion
No knives on the table
Points of view being talked over... nothing more

You are obviously heated up just because I commented
I have not seen photos that inspire me to buy
the ltm lens > (photos i have been viewing on flickr , btw)

So me wanting to have my mind blown with a lens rendering
gets You thinking
You would rather have a "finely composed photograph / print"
to which I respond that could be boring.
For me it's Content first then Print

Different points of view ... thats all, not arguing

Though I do admit this lens would look rather sexy on my III

touché
there are many photos here that would not inspire me to buy most lenses.....
but then most of the discussions here are about gear and not photographs.....
i'm clearly in the wrong place
