Flying at this level, just above the inner canyon with the Colorado River below was pretty amazing. Snow covered north rim in the background.

This was an amazing job done by our Lynn! WOW indeed.Wow! 1800 slides, that is a massive amount of scanning and post-processing, Lynn!
I am in awe of your ability to actually do that! I am also delighted that you are doing it and I cannot wait to your posts.
This is remarkable. And I say that because it is true and nothing, not even my personal anguish and sorrow (long story), can deny that!
You definitely put a smile on my face!😃😃😃
Long live the FE!

I have visited this ghost town!#USA04-09 Calico ghost town, CA, 05 May 1979
I admit to being disappointed in this tourist attraction, having been spoilt by Sovereign Hill in Victoria, Australia - a much larger place. This small town felt just a little too perfect with its paved main street. Maybe that's necessary given the grade and any potential downpour. They put on a good guy/bad guy gunfight complete with stunts, which seemed to entertain the few tourists there. We only had a short time there so maybe there were more things to see than we did.

Thank you for this trip back in time, Lynn.
I visited such places in the late 1980's and early 1990's, but I used the less costly Fuji Chrome and not the fancy Kodachrome
These were the days ....

Yes I did, to the Havasupai reservation - see from post #101. I would’ve loved to have gone down Bright Angel but we didn’t have time.@lynnb did you hike down the canyon? We ventured down to the river down Bright Angel Trail. It was snowing at the South Rim and 75° (24°C) at the river…

Lynn, your flight was taken on my birthday. Thanks for sharing the pics. I could never do that flight as I get terrible air sickness.

You're welcome - that's sad you get air sickness. I've felt nauseous on a boat but never in the air (I learnt to fly long ago).Lynn, your flight was taken on my birthday. Thanks for sharing the pics. I could never do that flight as I get terrible air sickness.
A small correction: the picture in post #131 is photo #USA08-30.
I'll finish up with the Grand Canyon pictures later today so we can move on with the road trip. I shot about 6 1/2 rolls of 36exp at the canyon.

South rim from our Cessna 402. The Grand Canyon appears as a huge rift in the earth's surface, as if the land was torn apart.

#USA10-29 Scenic flight over the Grand Canyon, 10 May 1979. View of the Havasupai reservation. There are 2 waterfalls visible, the nearer is opposite the small branching side canyon on the right, the other is in the middle of the Y-shaped canyon intersection near the top of the frame. That waterfall was where the swimming photo in post #114, image #USA06-22 was taken. From the rim it's an 8 mile hike down to the reservation. Apologies for the poor quality of this image due to the sun flaring badly through the perspex window.

This was the pilot and aircraft for our scenic flight over the canyon. Any resemblance to Tom Cruise is accidental.
