LLL 50mm f/1.2 ASPH "1966"

5cm F1.5 Xenon, wide-open on the M Monochrom- after disassembling and cleaning inner surfaces. The Summarit Swirlies are Similar.
I found the Xenon with a Yellow filter was pretty good on the m Monochrom, better than the reputation. Before cleaning internal haze- looked like mud.

Is it a made in China lens?
No. I will tell what lens it is.

It is a black paint 50mm f1.4 Summilux lens from 1959 with serial number 1703XXX. The diaphragm has 12 slats. The focusing ring has ridges on the lower surfaces.

I've never seen a better lens in my life.

The coating is bright orange. Not a single scratch can be seen.

Canon 50mm F1.4, wide-open on the M Monochrom. But not the one you think of.
RF coupled to 0.65m. I went on a convert SLR lens to RF coupled M-Mount some 10 years ago. Canon FL mount 50/1.4 V2.

You have several special lenses, Erik.
Maybe you should give us here some overview of each of your special lenses one day.

There is such a lens for sale on ebay for 30k EURO.

No, that is another lens, but looks like it. It's the number that is important, 1703XXX, 1959. Balsam separation was often a problem in the later type. I myself have one with such a problem, 18XXXXX.

I get it now. It is the early number. The ebay lens has number 2 xxx xxx

Yes, the early number. Most likely the design of the early lens is not by Leitz, but by Taylor, Taylor & Hobson. The collaboration between the two firms already existed in the 1920s. Zeiss was already working on the Sonnar at the time and Leitz wanted a faster lens for the Leica. That's why Leitz sought cooperation with the English firm.
