It is interesting to find an old 1950s TV series that I never knew existed. I think it came on at 9pm on a weeknight, and that would explain why I never saw it before.

A young Charles Bronson was the man with a camera. In fact I have watched 11 or 12 episodes, and he has used a Speed Graphic, a Leica M and a Rolleiflex so far.🙂

There is a curious accessory for the M3 that he used:

Does anyone know what this is? It apparently attaches to the cold shoe.🤷🏼‍♂️

Duh… That may be exactly what it is. Thanks! I have never used one or ever seen one collapsed mounted in the camera. I guess it slipped by me when he was using it but with no flash occurring. 🙂

I find these black and white film movies quite well done, despite the seemingly boring/simple plots. 🙂Some are actually well done in a vintage sort of way.

Pathologists can determine which diseases were the cause of death for ancient mummies. Now we have evidence that GAS was around at least in the 1950's.
We have been hunters and gatherers for thousands of years. We can't do anything else. And above all, it's not our fault ;-)

Related threads. Some fun stuff here:

The old bulbflash attachments had some versions where the reflector was a multi-blade thing which would fold like a fan for storage. That is what you are looking at. It seems like only yesterday. Here is what one looks like with the reflector fully open: Accura Photography Camera Flash, Folding Reflector, Vintage With Leather Case - Etsy

Remember, this was high tech at the time.

Good you’ve not let slip the name of the series yet, unless Man With a Camera is it. Interesting. Was Bronson a photographer?

They are very cool. Perhaps I should get one for my little Leica Cave.😎
They are still around for sometimes little money. Made by a lot of companies.
For example:
mostly names "vintage flash"
But remember, if you want to use them, you will also need the right flash bulbs. These are much rarer and usually much more expensive than the flash itself.

That's why the flash is cheap: no bulbs.
