There will be a lot of PSA testing, which after surgery should be a “zero,” meaning no Cancer. Any number other than zero means Cancer has returned.
A specialized PET scan and then the Cancer would be highly targeted with radiation. It is reported that ADT compliments radiation therapy. Basically they would be performed together.
So this is my future at some point. The idea is that the Cancer has to reappear to target.
Careful watch and wait lays ahead.
Prognosis still is good for at least a decade and even 15 years looks good.

So here is the big deal real situation: I have a very aggressive form of Prostate Cancer that is a killer that somehow seems to have been caught in time.
Seems like they removed all the Cancer with surgery, so about a month from now on March 3rd a PSA should read zero, meaning no Cancer.
If any residual is indicated by any number other than zero on my PSA then they will do a PET scan and target the residual with radiation and ADT (hormone therapy).
At this point, just rest and recovery. Pretty much this coincides with the 6 weeks of rest and no exertion.
In the meantime, Pathology will be looking into my lymph-node irregularities. Also my pathology report is being shared with my old geezer hematologist.
Basically things are looking as good as it gets, but I am warned than my aggressive Cancer will at some time come back.
Pretty much all it takes is one Cancer cell…
Ten years Cancer free has pretty good odds and is almost assured. 15 years Cancer free is about a 52% chance. At age 67 presently that gets me near the median life expectancy, and over a 50% chance of living past 82.
I’ll take that. Pretty much chronic monitoring using zero PSA as the threshold for the rest of my life.
Still my stomach remains a tad unsettled.
My incontinence is not so bad. Pretty much leakage can happen at any time. Best to empty frequently. Anything can trigger leakage…
Hit CVS and used mucho coupons.
I’m fading…

Seems like Eliquis is a class of drugs that has a deductible in my Advantage Plan. Know that I pay into a Part “D,” so I was expecting this to be fully covered.
Oh-well..
There is no more $40.00 a quarter slush fund for over the counter items. Instead there is some “rewards” program where funds get placed into the account for say getting your annual checkup, getting a flu shot or other vaccine, and even going to the gym.
Next refill of Eliquis requires some request from my hematologist.
So pretty much the time bomb will be when my PSA level elevates from zero. That is when the secondary treatment will begin of radiation and hormone therapy. Tick-Tick-Tick…
No one likes uncertainty… From what I gleen the PSA intervals will likely be quarterly or in 3-month intervals.

Could the stomach virus that is evil have medicinal value to me.
Can I spin 5 hours of waking to deal with die-A-rear be considered extensive pelvic floor exercises?
Then there is the constipation that followed that even persists today.
My stomach still isn’t right, and “Maggie” still is queasy.
All this upset stomach makes having any bladder control kinda impossible.
I want to acknowledge that one of the reasons I’m strong is Maggie. She has really been great support. This is not an easy time for us.
Word from North Carolina is that it snowed, but instead of warming up and melting the snow after the storm cold persisted. Ended up closing schools and businesses for 5 days. The snow became black ice.
Know there are no plows, or salt/sanders. Pretty much a disaster…
I remember driving cross country with a snow and ice storm that kept its pace with me. Kinda crazy driving my Jeep Scrambler a good part of 2000 miles in four-wheel drive. Actually pretty crazy. I remember a tractor trailer jack knifing right in front of me.
At a certain point pretty much I was the only vehicle on the road.
Anyways mighty crazy and not too smart…

Went to bed at 10:00 and got up at 8:00.
Around midnight the pee and poop started, not in a bad way. There was a lack of seepage or urgency because not only did I have the capability of a full bladder, but also could control things to a great degree that I would say approaches normal, except for completely emptying my bladder. This would be performed standing.
To fully empty my bladder I would do a secondary release, but seated on the toilet. Either I would vent mucho gas or do a mini-poop.
I figured this dual process would eventually cease, but it held through the night.
So now suddenly I have my bladder capacity back, but the limit is on emptying it completely. I feel I will not be one of those 10% that remain incontinent after surgery where the condition is permanent. Great to experience no leakage.
Urine is clear, bloating is reduced, and my scrotum is nearly normal. The surgical incisions, some have no scabs, but there is discoloration and minor lumpiness that will take time to fade.
I’m still a bit bloated, but at the rate I’m peeing and pooping that 8 pounds of bloat should be gone.
Two of “Maggie’s” brothers are very taken back that a guy like me in great shape could fall ill so drastically. For them it is a wake-up call of their own mortality.
This morning I feel refreshed.
Last night I did this ball curl pelvic floor exercise in addition to standing and seated kegals.

There is talk of a market bubble unwinding, and a reverse “Wealth Effect” could trigger a recession according to CitiBank.
Hmmm… I have thought AI has a lot of hype to inflate it.
Pretty much the old adage “Garbage in: Garbage out” applies. AI is only as good as the programming.
Certainly AI does well say in text editing, or doing a search for plagiarism, and has vast applications for military weapons and weapon systems.

Recovering from the surgery itself is a whole journey and the stomach bug is quite a penalty over it. The damn bug has been running around, even I got one that went quickly. If anything, about being sick, the only good thing is when it KO's and just sleep relentlessly. So also quite an annoyance that the whole is disrupting your sleep badly.
What a January it has been. We should be having snowstorms over here in Scandinavia instead of dull gray boredom, but see they went down to NC for Vacation.

Happy to hear that you are on the mend ! What you have been through was sort of invasive and will take some time for full recovery. Within these pages in the past, you have shared your insights concerning subjects like the economy and geopolitics. Since January 20 it seems to me that the world has sped up somehow. I came across this guy's video about current happenings and would value your thoughts on the content. Particularly concerning what he says about China. After yesterday's announcement, many now say China is to be feared. This man seems to suggest that the regime is more of a "paper tiger" and not so powerful.

Austin,
I disagree with the statement that the U.S. has not had a unified economic policy since WWII. This disregards “The Apollo Program” where in the 1960’s President Kennedy made it a goal to land a man on the moon. Also like WWII this was related to not only technical dominance, but also economic dominance.
Don’t disregard technical developments and industrial developments that were outcomes from the Apollo Program. The communications revolution like cell phones, microwave ovens that have become household items, personal computers, and to an extend overall advancement in science, computer science, data science and many peripheral jumps that we enjoy today that became household consumer products.
So the idea of industrial policy outlined I totally agree. I also agree that there is a lack of vision as far as infrastructure goes. If you want to understand more about how bad the electric grid is look into how much water and power a “Data Center” consumes.
Pretty much the non operating 3-Mile Island Nuclear Power facility is going to be revived and put back on line to supply power a Data Center. The amount on energy used/required also consumes vast amounts of water. There is a serious demand for water and serious environmental issues also that were overlooked.
The generation of power, its distribution, and the resources required are not really being address, and need to be addressed fully. Kinda like building a massive chip foundry in Arizona that requires vast amounts of water in a state that already has a water supply problem.
Elsewhere I mentioned the Donald’s interest in Greenland is likely it’s supply of fresh water. Greenland’s supply of fresh water is only second to Canada. Pretty much securing a water supply, controlling or cornering the water supply is one way of enforcing economic and political dominance.
So don’t overlook water as a key to life, food production, independence, freedom, and future prosperity. Whoever is able to control the fresh water supply will rule the world.
I don’t disagree that the U.S. has a second chance to emerge as the super power and dominant player in the world.
I support and don’t disagree with the notion that China is already doomed with no chance of ever getting on track. It spent almost all its ammo. Debt is a real problem, the overbuilding is another, the collapse of an export economy has no rebound, mucho failed policies, a demographic population collapse, an aging population…
With China the list is almost endless…
So back to the Apollo Program which was once judged as a complete waste of money, proved to be a cornerstone to the communications revolution, consumer electronics, computer age… that led to the “age of information.”
Fact is that the infrastructure that landed men on the moon in 1969 does not exist today. Just even the metallurgy and industrial capacity to build a big dumb rocket booster of a Saturn 5 rocket does not exist today. That industry I saw and witness being disposed of at the end of the Cold War when Ronald Ray Gun was President.
Pretty much the infrastructure we once had and enjoyed was dismantaled and was destroyed. I’m talking trillions of dollars here that I think would have to be systematically rebuilt over a long period of time. Pretty much on the scale of rebuilding both Germany and Japan after WWII after we destroyed their ability to fight or want to fight.
I think and believe the one decade a collapse will happen in China is about right. I think though the second decade is way wrong. Fact is China with its focus on urbanization allowed food production to drop. China cannot feed itself anymore and is a big importer of food.
I will state again that Arab Spring was caused by hungry children. China has destroyed its own ability to sustain itself, and the rural destruction, the displacement of workers, urbanization, and vast environmental destruction translates into no going back.
Clearly the future of any empire or civilization will be some form of self containment and self sufficiency.
China relies on an export economy, but that already is doomed. It died with free-trade. Fallout from this is that Germany’s export economy is also doomed. German car manufacturing is currently undergoing a collapse. Horrific unemployment lays ahead.
Both China and Germany really have no game plan or Plan “B.” Pretty much chaos.
The Donald has to grow our economy enough to offset the economic damage he intends on performing. Inflation will be a massive problem. I see little or no growth in the future. Building out infrastructure and capitol outlays have a serious delay on return on investment and increases in productivity.
I failed to mention that Japan is another export economy that is suffering. A big trading partner for Japan actually is China. Japan is in the same boat as Germany. Back when we did the Rhine River Cruise about 7-10 years ago, Germany exported lots of precision tooling and machines to China. Now that overcapacity is entrenched in China, with youth unemployment in China hovering around 20% by some reports, that trade is gone for Japan and Germany. Unemployment in Germany is expected to hit 10%.
Understand that Germany is the big player and powerhouse of the European Union. When Germany declines so does the rest of Europe.
So the enabling the U.S did by defending Europe, allowed the Europeans to enjoy a subsidy of sorts where they diverted defense obligations and used vast amounts of capitol to fund social programs and expand their economy will have big repercussions. Understand that this abuse and free-ride has happened since the end of the Cold War.
To everyone’s horror for example Germany is a small shadow of defense capability to defend itself. Clearly the U.S. is no longer going to allow U.S. dependence on defense of Europe. Pretty much the idea of the U.S. defending Europe is a flawed idea, and Europe pretty much will have to defend itself.
I hope the Europeans understand this. They asked for this, and they got a free-ride that lasted for decades that subsidized peace and prosperity for them. Oh-well.
As much as I criticize China I have a lot of bad things to say here about things here in the U.S. The rule of law no longer exists, the rule of the jungle are the times we live in. Expect uncivilized, inhuman behavior and expect violence.
Pretty much we will be fighting each other for food and water in the end. I would not rule out war.
Cal

My bladder I think received improvement from the stomach malady. An consequence was 5-hours of disturbed sleep, but also an unintended consequence of an extensive pelvic floor workout and considerable strength training because of an aftermath of constipation.
Today I enjoy smooth bladder control and large bladder capacity. There also is less bloating.
The thing I have to improve upon is full emptying my bladder.
Pretty much in my case the illness caused a vast improvement. No leakage or seepage, more comfort and capacity, and dryness.

Another U.S. industrial policy overlooked and not mentioned was Ronald Ray-Gun’s doubling of defense spending from about 2 1/2%-3% GNP to 5%-6%.
This included a 500 ship Navy, a MX mobile missile system, and many other new weapons and capabilities.
Secondarily the end of the Cold War resulted in “Reaganomics” which involved and encouraged mergers, union busting, corporate greed, stagnant wages, and mucho deregulation.
How is this not industrial policy?
If you use history, then don’t use it selectively.

And how do you think you would get water from Greenland to even the east coast? Making water a commodity is a scam pure and simple, there is no market for water. The driving force is to make money locally by passing water through middle men. Look at New York City while nothing is perfect our water supply is not a money making enterprise, but a municipally run utility and works. Use water where it is, energy is much more portable.

So what if we didn’t waste ammo and risk the danger of igniting and advancing inflation via trade wars.
Pretty much China is “dying” already on its own, basically of 1000 self inflicted wounds. Does it make sense, or is it worth the risk?
Pretty much my logic is to not waste valuable ammo and build a sustainable future through leadership.
I know not the Donald style.
Know that in Donald 1.0 China agreed on agreements and concessions, but never followed them. Pretty much lip service. Donald 2.0 is just a round 2 of more agreements not honored or valued. The Donald gets played again as the fool.
What a waste. Look at the history of 6-7 years ago. I’m not lying…
Do we really need “To kick China in the face?”

Joe,
I see your point, but then again water in Colorado and other states is channeled into California.
Also I use to laugh when bottled water was first being sold too. Remember when?
There is also a hybrid model and that is desalinate salt water using energy. That is one way to localize a water supply. Pretty much why can’t water be shipped like oil or gasoline then pipelined.
If I remember right in San Deigo they somehow recycle water that formally was sewage.
I think the point being overlooked is having a stable or abundant water supply is a very valuable asset. Look at the California wild fires. Watch the movie “Chinatown” staring Jack Nicholson.
Remember one of the early Photovilles where pretty much they connected the dots between global warming, famine, civil wars, and refugee crises. Pretty much a clear example of water shortage and not having enough. Timeline: that was more than a decade ago…
Here in New York we are blessed. Believe me, water already is a precious commodity.
At some point, Canada and Greenland, sparsely populated countries, although Canada is in the G-8, will become more powerful and wealthy because of their water supply.
We are kinda at the point where they started to sell bottled water, but understand this is on a different scale.
I don’t think I’m wrong with the concept that after the clear breakdown of “Rule of Law” that the new order is “Rule of the Jungle.” I’m projecting that in the future fresh water will be a very important and valuable commodity and pretty much people will be fighting basically over food and water.
The rule of the jungle…
Point is there will not be enough food and water to go around. I know hard to imagine, but it already is happening.

No way water will become a commodity. Your not shipping water, or piping it long distances other than down hill. The problem California has is that cities were built where there is insufficient supply of water, that seems to be being exasperated by climate change. You are the con man's friend suggesting that water will be a pivotal, while it is important, whats important is were the water ends up. (via natural systems) Were the water is is where the value is. Sure if you have oil money you can desalinate sea water, but in the end that's a fools errand. Greenland is not the answer to where to get water, however that water can be an issue as it's on land so if it melts sea levels rise.
Joe

You are the con man's friend suggesting that water will be a pivotal, while it is important, whats important is were the water ends up. (via natural systems) Were the water is is where the value is. Sure if you have oil money you can desalinate sea water, but in the end that's a fools errand. Greenland is not the answer to where to get water, however that water can be an issue as it's on land so if it melts sea levels rise.

Joe,
Water already is a commodity. Did you ever drink bottled water?
The con man I agree is striking, or shall I say already struck. Examples are bottled water that I cited, also if you understand the politics that was presented in the film Chinatown, pretty much a drought was created for political struggle and a power grab.
A great part of California is an irrigated desert where half our produce comes from. By all means all the water that is diverted to California is un-natural. Lots of engineering to feed and divert water to California, yes gravity is utilized, but this extraordinary and not so natural.
California is not the only place where development exceeds a sustainable water supply. Shall I list all the southern and southwest states. Don’t forget that the Great Salt Lake in Utah is drying out.
The fool’s errand mentioned is actually in effect because of the fact that you can’t live without water, and also because it is becoming a scarce commodity. Desalination already is underway.
You tell me the big difference between bottled water and trucking, tankering, or pipelining. To me pretty much it is just scale.
Is this any difference between building dams, creating resovoirs, and diverting rivers.
I don’t think you realize that insufficient water extends way beyond just California. Oregon and Washington state use to be somewhat of a cloud forest, but now they suffer droughts. Forest fires are increasing and are rampant. Don’t forget the forest fires in Canada that effected our air quality.
In my rule-of-the-jungle scenario things get so bad that people fight for food and water for just bare survival. Clearly as mentioned displayed at that early profound Photoville where global warming led to drought, drought to famine, famine to war, then genocide and a refugee crisis. The rule-of-the-jungle already is playing out or has played out in parts of the world.

Cal,
Just think what it would cost to use bottled water to cool a reactor.
Water goes down hill by itself, it does not go up hill by itself...

You can't argue with Physics; all of Earth's resources are finite, yet we behave as if we can expand our demand infinitely. We are beginning already to run up against those limits, and that process will increase exponentially. We can reduce demand, we can reduce population, or, ideally, both. If we don't (and it seems unlikely we will under Corporate Capitalism), we will enter a horrendous global dark age. Sorry for the gloom and doom, but that's the reality I see.Joe,

We all drink bottled water here in Indonesia. It's not bad, depending on the brand, and so far not expensive as a vast majority of Indonesians couldn't afford to pay western prices for their sky juice.
Almost all of Asia drinks it bottled. In fact I don't know any of Asian country that doesn't. Maybe Japan or Taiwan or Singapore. For the usual reasons. Too many people, too much pollution, tonnes of crap going into the oceans, the reservoirs, the rivers.
In Australia, so far not so. But then where I live, several times we've had to bring in water in bottles as our reservoirs are all open and guck easily gets into them, also the effects of climate change. So the west isn't immune.
For you lot in Merka, it seems to be your country's unstoppable march down to third world status. It's coming, and it's coming fast. Be ready for it.
