B, i was answering this statement of yours " I am surprised it is not more popular."..... I've. had 2 CV 21mm, 2 CV 28mm f3.5, a 35mm 2.5, 35mm Vll 1.4 and the 50mm 2.5. I still have a 21and the 50. Though i really liked the character of the 35mm 1.4......i'm holding out for another Summilux.

Ya wanna arm-wrestle this?? LOL I just see a warmth and glow in night shots that I have not seen in my other 35's. And I like that glow, a kind of "Cooke Look" effect. And while my other 35's are alright lenses none have this glow to them. It is a lens which just fell into my lap. That little lens coma, a glow, kind of checks my boxes.
The way it handles color and light is pleasing to me and I it find flattering. Sharp and saturated color does not do as much for me, That CV 35 1.4 is sharp and has finely saturated color. But for me it does the sharpness and color in a distracting way. I do not want to do an engraving, I want a pleasing image that soothes.
This photo of a boat tied up at Bornstein's in the West Mooring Basin is sharp, detailed, and has good color. But the sharpness is not harsh, the colors do not distract. And there is that nice coma and glow. It all seems to come together and work for me. I am not commenting on the image but how well it is executed by the Ultron and the 240. They work well together.

No arm wrestling necessary B. Both your photos & Robert's show a nice warmth & glow. I think back when there were fewer options, wide popularity was possible. Is the 1.7 even still in production?Ya wanna arm-wrestle this?? LOL I just see a warmth and glow in night shots that I have not seen in my other 35's. I notice on the bay that lenses offered from Japanese sellers very frequently have haze listed.
I wonder if that might be just to avoid a costly return from an overcritical buyer.
I bought a Canon 100/3.5 LTM lens listed as having haze from an eBay seller in Japan.
I can detect none.

I do not think it is still made. Mine was a serendipitous event and I am grateful for it. It just has that coma and glow I like so much. I have some nice lenses, but this is a favored lens.
