Looks like an early '80s model, judging by the bumpers, angled gas filler and rectangular mirrors. The enemy of Checkers is rust and frame rot - ask me how I know!An old sedan made by Checker Motors that had seen better days (yet it will likely outlive me).

The name Velox continued though the model line until the mid sixties.Ok it’s British. I know the name Vauxhall but not sure I’d ever seen one.
Thanks!
Love the texture on this one, I feel like I could almost reach out and touch it!
Up until just a few years ago the Portland metro area never used salt on the roads in the wintertime, largely because they didn’t really need to. But as the local population grew over the past couple of decades, so did the potential for traffic-related headaches resulting from winter storms. As a car nut, I was disappointed when they finally decided to begin using salt here yet I understand why so many others wanted this. Here in the city we typically might get one or two small snowstorms each year where the accumulated snow sticks around into the night. We are equipped to deal with this sort of whether. Once in a while we’ll see a heavier snowstorm with snow that sticks around for up to a week, or worse an ice storm (with a combination of the two leading to the biggest headaches). That’s when the road crews have a hard time keeping up and ultimately why the decision was made to use salt as needed. Still, such needs are rare here — I doubt that they ever used the stuff this past winter. So cars like the Checker will continue live on for a while longer.Looks like an early '80s model, judging by the bumpers, angled gas filler and rectangular mirrors. Beautiful specimen and fantastic setting! I photographed a 20s/30s Chrysler sedan in similar condition the other day, but I went exclusively for close-up details because the background was incredibly cluttered in a way that I found detracting from the composition. Anyway, I’ve got to send that film out to the lab.An old GM truck that had seen better days — now rusting away in a nice setting.

Thanks, I too will opt for close-ups when a background is not to my liking. You’ll have to post up the results here after you get your film back.Beautiful specimen and fantastic setting!
