What have you just BOUGHT?

Recently got a Voigtlander 15 f4.5 Heliar for Nikon Z.
What a lot of fun this one has been! Love the wide angle lenses. I have used my Canon 25 rangefinder lens a lot and really like the pictures I get with it. When I camped in the Rockies, 90% of my pictures were with it, the rest with the Canon rangefinder 100/3.5.
This 15 mm lens is another world though. Exploring this world is a blast.
Although not a big lens, it is still huge compared to the tiny Canon 25.

The whole sky, or the whole room, or a portrait that includes all the interesting environment.

Scale focusing is easy. In fact, for many pics, focusing is really optional.
There is a thread here with images made with this lens that is worth exploring.

Hasn’t arrived yet, but I just purchased the first version of the Lumix S5, primarily for shooting travel and documentary video with cinematic quality. I’m planning to use lenses like my Voigtlander 50mm f/1.1 and Contax 45mm f/2, and I will probably add some C/Y glass down the line.

The orange color fades also very fast underwater. Not picky about that. They are negative buoyant so yes they sink. I have been taking them to condition training in the pool to practice with the camera and get used to handling it while free diving.

not trying to spam, but I have 28/2.8 C/Y and 50/1.7 C/Y am going to list for sale soon here, don't want to part with them but my Q2 covers all that now. (my bad if o/t)

I have the 35 and 28mm PC nikkors. The Rokinon 24mm T/S lens is good too. Longer than those I use Pentax 6x7 lenses on T/S adapters.
 
My first non rangefinder Nikon came today. F2 from 1977. Well it came yesterday but I wasn’t home so I had to go pick it up. Bought it from The Photo Source in Sacramento. They sell on eBay but I order directly from them and everything I’ve gotten was fairly priced and accurately described. Very clean body. They said the dp1 finder had a “jumpy” needle but I put batteries in and it seems pretty stable. Never had this camera before so I’m unsure what’s expected. I’ll compare it against another meter before I shoot.

Have owned P800 past several years and it's best Epson printer I've owned since early 2000's & 1280, no clogs from hell like prior Epsons, only requires one quick cleaning every once in while, and no need to print test page every day, once a month works. Please let us know how Piezography ink works vs the OEM and if it still is clean over long haul.

If you have to charge your P800 with OEM inks first, try the Epson ABW before Piezo w/a few test prints please and again, let us know how it works out compared to Piezo..I like ABW but it seems something's missing in the neutral tones (for me).

I also have a 3800 with my own Paul Roark ink mix (using a OEM large Matte black ink cart (and a drilled/siphoned mess), then mixed my own B&W inks per his recipes, and use ChartThrob script to make curves from scanned greyscale chart, but it's such a hassle now doing that vs what P800 does out of box with OEM inks. it was fun at first to figure out how to get it Roark workflow to work, now it's a hassle to maintain, mix ink, etc. While again, the Piezo system sounds like a good idea and betting he's nailed the details by now..(guessing others who print also have similar questions based on posts to old/defunct Yahoo B&W group).

The used printer has arrived but doesn't have much ink left in it. The printer was also damaged in transit and the manual feed won't close so I have had to tape it shut. Apparently this is not uncommon. I am going to attempt the black ink changeover today as it is on matte and I 95% use glossy. I also have a 3880 with Paul Roark's eboni 6 inks for matte papers which I mix myself.

Piezography now has a relatively easy system for calibration of papers but you have to pay for the software and it requires use of Microsoft Excel to work plus a working spectro to measure ink patches (I had already paid for this for the P900 which died and already have a full set of bottled inks). You also need to purchase Harrington's software Printtool and QTRIP. It costs a lot for the inks to be shipped to the UK but it still works out cheaper than OEM once it is set up. I hardly ever print colour and have a Canon 17" printer for that.

If I didn't already have the ink and hadn't already spent a lot of time and effort on learning the Piezography system before my P900 died I may well not have bought the P800 and just used the black and white mode on my Canon Pro 1000. I will not buy another P900 so had to get a used P800.

The advantages of the Piezography system to me are about control of the process and split toning capability which is not available on ABW or Canon's system. You can get better separation of shadow detail and high DMax plus good black and white profiling of different papers. But most people probably won't be able to tell the difference between a Piezography print and an ABW.
 
It hasn't arrived yet, but I found an adapter for Leica X1/X2 that allows me to use standard 52mm filters and lens accessories... Only $16 or so with shipping. That'll be useful as I have both various effects filters, close-up lenses, and even tele/wide accessory attachments that I can play with on these Xs now, just for the amusement value of course. 😉

A Leica Sofort 2. I’ve always wanted to go instant for many reasons and finally pulled the trigger. Looking forward to having some fun with the grandkids and at family events. Also looking forward to attempting some images that emulate what Evans, Adams and @lynnb (on this forum) have done in the past.

The camera has some basic useful settings So I ran out in the back yard and managed to create something that looks a little like I imagined was possible - imperfections and all.

This wonderful Leica M5. Bought as "for parts" as the seller told me the slow speeds didn't work below 1/15th.

Works done:
- Fixed the slow speed escapement
- Removed haze from the viewfinder
- Shottky diode installed to use SR44 batteries
- Replaced the leatherette

Looking forward to try this one out with some film!
