FED 3 .

Hello new to this site looks to be a place of great knowledge . My fed 3 seems to have a deteriorating prism mirror . The bottom, right corner through the viewfinder is black. No, I assume it’s still usable. It is quite annoying so my question is if I have a donor camera can I swap out a prism mechanism and be good to go ? Or will this require some recalibration and then some thing that I don’t think I’m up for ? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks, John.

I have a Fed-4 (Revue) you can use as a donor, but shipping from the Netherlands can be expensive. It’s in pretty good condition but the shutter blocks at 1 sec and the exposure meter is dead. The easiest way is to swap the whole rangefinder unit. You have to calibrate everything afterwards.

So recalibrate vertical and horizontal ? I can do that if that’s what you mean
