What have you just BOUGHT?

P1040267.hdr.JPG

Not the best image of a bit of not the best camera in the world!
Quickly taken and hand held.
Is it recognisable to you?
Argus A3 bought for less than £10 on eBay - I see now it needs a real clean!
I've had it on the kitchen worktop for a few days and love its looks.
I keep picking it up and hefting it in my hands - early Leica comes into my mind : nothing much like it but ... perhaps in old age the mind plays you tricks!

View attachment 4876609Up until recently I used my Linhof technika and Cambo wide for architectural work, but I've fallen down the rabbit hole of pc lenses on digital.
This arrived today and my first reaction is that it's bloody wonderful...

I'm in the market for the 24mm TS-E. I have always missed camera movements since giving up my 4x5 gear. I just picked up a couple of cheap Canon DSLRs. Canon DSLR gear and EF lenses are incredibly cheap nowadays.

I just bought the Nikkor-SC 5cm F1.4 with the dented filter ring last week. This weekend I swapped glass with one I bought a couple of months ago.
SO NOW- I have an NKT 5cm F1.4 with really clean glass and a good filter ring, and a NKJ S-Mount with straightened filter ring. Total cost for both lenses- $230.

THIS Thread is a fun thread for showing the by-product of GAS, ie items that you bought.

I've created a catch-all for tangents in Off-Topic.

They are cheap. Except for the real professional gear, both pro bodies and L lenses, which are holding their price surprisingly well.
My new TS-E 17mm is a marvel of engineering and optics, so much so I am also looking for a TS-E 24mm, but the better 2nd version is still pricey and I doubt the 1st version will be good enough on my S1r.
I have been pleasantly surprised by the Sigma MC-21 adapter, it's opened up a whole new world of GAS, which is not good...
I was recently tempted by the 11-24mm EF, which is also astonishing, so my bank account is looking a little sad now.
Of course if you get the 24mm vii TS-E you could also use it on your GFX...

Yes, the 24mm TS-E second version is more expensive. I am researching whether the first version is worth the bother. If only the Fuji TS lens wasn't so expensive...

Nice conversion, does it have diopter adjustment for the rangefinder? Also 1/500th or 1/1000?
Diopter, "1/1000" and proper flash synch with the 1-20 dial. It went to Wetzlar in 52 and 60 but I don't know when the main work was done. The Diopter is the simpler post war one without the right angle bit sticking forward. I have seen a few, they are usually called a IIa syn. The innards are certainly not IIIc/IIIf era but are clearly not from the original camera. I suppose Leica had a lot of IIIa and IIIb parts at that period and made the most of them. I have a chrome IIIa syn also and the innards are similar.

I just snagged a secondhand Panasonic 100-300mm II for less than half of street price. It equates to 200-600mm on full frame in a lens about the size of a Monster energy drink, and lighter to boot. Too bad this came up at the end of Australia's football season, but there will be track and field early next year, then we're back to football. I chose this as the 100-400mm in Panasonic and Olympus are a bit out of the budget right now, and this lens is considerably lighter, too. Eventually I will get either the Panasonic or Olympus 100-400, but this will absolutely do in the meantime.

'' well the Zorki 4K arrived today - absolutely minty - BUT
i cannot get the split images to overlap with the focus ring
I adjusted the dioptre setting to get a sharp image --- but even setting the focus to a known distance,
there are still 2 images whether I set the scale to between 1m to infinity''

I decided to RETURN for a full refund of £50..... 👍

and purchased a second example @£40
which arrived with a cloudy viewfinder and the timer lever resets to 9o'clock not 12o'clock

If you remove this screw, there is another tiny screw in there. It is not easy to see as it is deep inside but it you put a small screwdriver (like one for glasses) you can set the rangefinder. No need to remove the top for this.

I should never have bought that Sigma MC-21

This lens genuinely amazes me, at 11mm wide open it's crisp into the corners.
Along with my PC lenses this is really working well for my industrial architecture project. I'm going to stop spending now and have a cull. I'm going to concentrate on my M240 for personal work and L-mount for everything else. Being able to adapt EF lenses has made a huge difference to me, and to my bank account...

Mind you I have sold over $8k of Nikon gear on Ebay in the last month.

With soviet cameras it is almost always a gamble. They are rather cheap and were always cheap, hence people usually didn‘t service them.

It is „safer“ to buy from reputable sellers and repairmen like eg Oleg from Slovakia. He is in expert in camera repair but I guess his offers are more expensive. I wouldn‘t pay more for a soviet camera from a random seller though.

Yes, that one, inside there is a tiny screw (1.2mm flat) which adjusts the RF
Zorkis are quirky, I kept a Z4 with a shutter full of holes as paperweight
