I believe Henry Scherer has passed away

After several years as my name inched up Harry’s waitlist I finally sent my IIa to him so he could work on it. When he received the box one side of it was smashed open and was empty, no camera. He relentlessly pursued the problem with the post office until they found the camera unharmed (I had wrapped it in lots of bubble wrap) and as everyone else has said his work was outstanding and I received back a camera that was not only as good as as new but I believe probably better.
Wow, that's above and beyond the call of duty! That's a great story.

IMG_3202.jpeghere is a picture of the box he received. He really went to bat for me making several trips to the post office and once he got the camera back he sent me several detailed emails explaining what was being done and why he was doing it. I am not a stranger to dealing with camera repairs but his communication was far above anyone else I have ever dealt with.

I purchased a Contax RF mount Biogon 21/4.5 from a forum member that had been serviced by Mr. Scherer. It is a beautiful lens that I am very happy to own. Unfortunate to see his website, that had very interesting Contax RF information, especially about the 21/4.5, is longer accessible.

Is this your photography? Henry is my uncle. I love to see his legacy and skill live on.

Hello, yes, I shot this photo with the wonderful Biogon 21/4.5 serviced by your uncle. I purchased the lens from a RFF member a few years ago and it came with some notes from Mr. Scherer and a service invoice. He overhauled the lens, machined the RF coupling to remove interference, and provided a rear cap.
