Pragmatist Barnack lover
HI, I'm thinking of taking a trip to Bangkok to visit an old friend and was wondering if any of you had any solid recommendations for camera shop browsing. I know YouTube is full of the usual bunch of people bouncing round shops like excited puppies, but most of them represent the victory of style over substance.
This is not my shopping list but is instead a list of the sort of things that I would enjoy looking at: Classic Leica, LTM lenses/cameras in general (mostly Barnack types), Japanese RF, RF folders, RF MF, buckets of bits that may be useful (meters, rangefinders, lens caps, spares, screws), interesting but cheap M lenses, Large Format lenses/shutters (but only slightly and if cheap), interesting vintage 50mm lenses of all sorts, mount adapters, vintage SLR.
Not interested in: brand new mirrorless cameras in glass cases, point and shoot 35mm, last generation film SLRs (bulbous plastic things) and studio size stuff.
I will have a small war chest but I'm not really anticipating big purchases.
Any suggestions would be appreciated along with useful info about how to get there from the Sathorn district. Happy to have food tips too as long as it is spicy.
I'm assuming there are things to photograph too...
