My M4 is on the way! Bought it at a bargain price on the bay with the matching summicron 50mm IV without tab! I fell for the myth with a leica IIIa with collapsible summicron, and I hope the M4 will fullfill my hopes and erase the minor downsides : Viewfinder, smoothness, flare (for the lens), and the major handicap of cutting to shape film and the rewind slowness! Still my M4 is a beautifully chromed brass body that should pair quite nicely with the IIIa. I'll post porn as soon as the model knocks on my door that should be in a day or two.

I just wanted to share this moment so intense and unique in receiving a M4 for the first time.

Sheers.

Congrats on the M4! You'll love it! A bit bigger than the IIIa but with the viewfinder and film wind lever It's no comparison to the IIIa!

Thanks Huubl! I once held a M2 for a few days, and the difference in size is quite considerable, but the nice handgripability of the vulcanite makes it a perfect handling and the size is still discreet and perfect for my hands. Anyway it will be my first real M, I feel like it's a special moment...
Here is a picture taken by the original owner, I will of course render the M4 justice by taking proper photos of the beast before shooting with!

An M4 is true joy to hold, everything you need in an M-series that makes it easy and comfortable to use - my favorite 'classic' from Wetzlar

Nice catch and I'm sure you will enjoy it. That is my only M body and I see no need to up grade, if that is the right phrase, to anything newer. I had mine cla'd at Kindermann. Talk about smooth.

Bob

Congrats on the M4!

I have one that has had a recent shutter replacement, it's almost dead silent now at 1/30 and faster. There's a faint 'clop' and that's it.. spooky.

Hoi Peter,
Waar heb je de sluiter laten vervangen?
Groet,
Huub

The shutter was replaced by Will van Manen (http://www.kamera-service.info) in Zoetermeer.

I think Will is the foremost classic camera repair man in the Netherlands. He's a nice person as well, very pleasant to deal with. I've had one of my M4s fixed by him. It had a loose curtain. Brought it myself, I live nearby. Within two days I had it back. He gave the camera a CLA as well and it's now smooth as a hot knife in butter.

This M4 look quite nice to me 😀
Arrived today I now could feel what a real magnificent camera feel in ones very own hands!

Thanks Shenkerian, the strap is a deluxe strap from Luigi, it was originally yellow desert but with sweat and rain and all the rest it turned out to get some kind of a brown that I actually like. But I would love a desert color strap that stays quite yellow, maybe my next strap for my rolleiflex will be again yellow but I'll ask for the most light yellow Luigi has in stock!

Thanks Huubl, I appreciate when I see your beautiful collection in your signature! My M4 is not mint but real nice user! I am going to give it a CLA after I put through it something like 50 rolls. Now I need a nice bag for my kit...
