What is a Canon Canonet GIII worth? I know that it is a desirable camera for use,but they seem to be plentiful on e-Bay. I have one that needs a shutter repair;any recommendations for repair shops?

I've seen them go as low as $40, but typically they go for $75 on up. Black ones are nearly always over $150 if they work. Sometimes even if they don't....

For a perfectly working one, with a good yellow patch, I would pay up to $150. To find such a one is the problem.

If it's only a stuck shutter, and you are handy with small things, you can probably repair that yourself. Hey, if I can do it, anybody can. All it took for mine was just a wee bit of Ronsonol to break the shutter blades free and it's going on 2 years with no further problems.

If you get stuck or need advice or help, ask either here or over at the Classic Camera Repair Forum (http://www.kyphoto.com/classics/) and you will receive it, in abundance. 🙂

It would seem many things are droping in value canon wise, just in the last year alone. For example a good condition silver one could have easily gone for 150$ to 180$ bout a year ago, now days you'd be hard pressed to get it sold for more than 100$ even if you happened to have the Canolite D flash. Same thing with the Canon FTb, seems they used to sell for about 100$ a year ago but in the past month or two you find them at 25$ with the lens and rarely more than that. I mean you can ask any price you want but the buyers who actually pay determine the value. I was originally going to sell my Canonet QL-17 G-III and my FTb since I got my Canon P to perhaps get more stuff for the P, but seeing as the value droped so low, all the canons I have are more valuable as a personal collection than sold as I would never get as much as I would hope for it.
