Paper for HP inkjet?

I have been using a basic HP injet photo printer (HP 7660), and I print only to 8x10 (8.5x11 rather) in black and white. So far, I have only used it with HP's own paper, one kind of kodak luster paper, and for regular prints or workprints, I have used the Staples brand matte paper.

I have been pleased with the results, but I wanted to try other "premium" photo paper brands like Hahnemulle (sp?) etc, but I am not quite sure which will work with this particular paper. Ideally, I would like something close to fiber-based paper, if that is possible. Also, what thickness of paper?

Any recommendations would be appreciated.
 
I also use an HP inkjet. Makes great B/W prints. I'd love to know if anyone else has used papers other than HP's, too. I know the company doesn't recommend it, but I'm pretty sure that's just because they want to sell paper. Anyone?
 
I have an HP 5160 printer, it's a multi use printer.
I mainly make work prints with it, but it does a good job.
I have used a lot of papers from the HP stuff, which I didn't like whatsoever, It doesn't seem to have a good tonal quality nor does it last all that long, I have some photographs that are a year or so old that look way older than that.

I have been using Kodak papers laterly and really like them and I have a couple of packages of Fuji that I have yet to use.

Don't laugh at me please.

I've had great results on both the old and new printers (both HP) using the house-brand Office Depot photo papers. I use both the high gloss and the matte finish.
 
I haven't been able to get a "true" B&W out of the 8450 - all the prints seem to look more like a warm duotone - which is ok by me as I like my prints that way - I've been using Ilford Gallerie Pearl paper for the most part.
