There's that blasted other thread (M6 TTL or MP), where everyone is saying how nice MPs are.

All of a sudden - I want one. Standard black paint with Racing green leather and silver controls....

Unfortunately, last time I looked, the Leica dealers were offering interest-free loans (I think).

I don't need another camera. I could do with a 2 m high stainless steel fridge freezer, a 42 " plasma TV and a holiday. And I could get all of those for less than the MP.

Buy it, I dare you. Aw hell, go all out and get exactly the one you want, better still get the one I want and give it to me...

the greatest problem when you have a MP is,
you want a second one.
Or you want to have all these splendit lenses,
and all in all the costs rises up and up.

Just remember...you can buy an MP, but it's still small format. Don't waste your money on 35mm. Buy that RF645 Gid has for sale, spend, what, 1/4 the price, and have a camera capable of producing BETTER IMAGES! I have this RF645, and I don't have to worry about buying more lenses because I have all the lenses that were ever made for the body.

Why buy an MP when you can buy even better cameras?:D

Colin,

Don't put yourself into a position where you might be satisfied for life.

It's only a camera and in spite of its fit and finish and the pleasure you'll get fondling it, which by the way is insignificant compared with the pleasure of pressing the shutter and winding on, you'd have to re-brand yourself as discerning, particular and committed.

Conversely, think of all the cool beers you can enjoy from that fridge.

Buy the fridge, you know it makes sense.

:bang:

Why even contemplate a fridge when you can own the world's coolest camera!

Don't ask anyone here to help you control your 'SPEND' reflex ... might as well ask the rabbits to look after the lettuces! :D

But you could just forget the MP and buy, instead, an M4P AND a fridge. AND a plasma. If you shop around.

Colin,

There's a black MP out there,
Waiting for you,
To fill in its blank warranty card.

go for it

go for it

You really should get a MP it will make you sooo much better photographer, I heard that having great camera helps taking superb pics:p

Frankly I'd rather go for couple of nice lenses, if you already have a decent back cap for them. Afterall the camera is only light resistant box with a hole at the front and a shutter, you'd better go for the lenses.

P.S. No offence meant

Man, are you crazy? Why would you need an MP ???

You already have M7 which is "the" modern one, and you have an M3 which is "the" classic. You don't need another Leica since you already have more than an average man needs!

Imagine all the people using fixed-lens RFs, Bessas, Canons... Most of them are dreaming about the cameras you already own!

So get yourself together, take your favorite lens, some film and GO OUT THERE TAKE SOME PICTURES!

Oh my!

That was fun - I'm still chuckling :)

Too many great posts to quote all of them. But I did like the "pull yourself together man. [slap]" one.

Yes, I have the modern one and the classic one - but not the *ultimate* one.

The problem with having lots of nice cameras (the digital revolution means I can buy any professional-level film camera I like :) ) is that I never know which one(s) to take - can't take all of them. Last time on holiday, it was the dSLR, 645, 4x5" and the M7. But you can't walk around town like that.

I have a 645 (which I don't like as much as 6x6) and was playing with the idea of getting a Mamiya 6 (6x6 RF).

But - would it feel as nice when winding the film on? Hah! I doubt it!

And I have to agree with Magus (I believe) who dislikes the "it's just a light-tight box" view. The M7 (actually, it's price) puts me in a sort of Zen trance "there is only me, the camera, and the world ... there is only the world ... there is nothing - click".

And who would want a 50 year old plasma TV? Quite right. Should be out taking pictures and not watching TV or drinking beer.

Mind you, actually going somewhere to take pictures would be better than sitting on the couch with a laptop...

Right then, so the consensus was that Racing green, black paint and silver controls wouldn't be exccessively ugly?

Now, about them viewfinder lines - I have to say, with the M3 I was surprised that the 50 lines are so prominent and don't go away when I have a 90 attached. They really are distracting. All those lines on the M7 are fine, by comparison.

PS. I'll probably need a 35/1.4 to go with it :D
