Just wanted to introduce myself to this great forum - my name is Juergen and I have a G2 with the 28, 45 and 90mm lenses. It is a shame that Contax did not continue the production of this great camera system - the quality of the lenses is outstanding and I am always amazed by the results I get. I also have a Bessa R2A with the 50 Nokton, 35 Ultron and 15 Heliar.
I've been browsing this forum for quite some time and learned a lot - just wanted to say thank you!

Juergen, glad to have you here! I agree with you about the Contax G -- too bad there isn't a digital back for them.

Welcome to the asylum Jürgen.
The Contax G2 is my most used camera, followed by a G1 and then a Canon D60. My most used lens is the 35 Planar on the G2 and the 45 on the G1 followed by the 28.
I still want the 35-70 zoom but have to save my pennies for the trip to brazil I still plan but haven't gotten the funds so far.
Cheers
Volker

Hallo Volker, I assume you guessed by my name that I am from Germany as well - I have been living in the US for the past 17 years (first near Philadelphia and now in Scottsdale Arizona). I spent my first 32 years in the Heidelberg area and go back quite frequently to visit family and friends.

GAS means Gear Aquisition Syndrome - You are here, you have it.
FSU means Former Soviet Union, related to cameras build on that era - If you dont have one yet, you'll develop a special form of GAS (see above) and will get one.
Welcome.

Hi Pedro, yes I admit, I suffer from both. In addition to the useable cameras that I have (please, don't make me count them - I don't want to know) I also collect antique cameras - I have about 300 in my collection, including many Russians, FEDs, Kievs and Krasnogorsks. Most f the russians are very useable and some of them have very good glass - the problem is that the quality is not consistent at all - as you all know. My largest collection is Ihagee - both Exakta and older vintage cameras. I find it fascinating how an entire industry (cameras and related products) could slip away from Germany - Dresden was the capital for everything photography related and then came WWII and the japanese and it was all over. Just shows you how fast things can change.

Pedro - I am sorry to say, but you ARE too late. Many of the vintage cameras I buy are beaten up and need a lot of attention, which I am happy to give them. It is a lot of fun to see one of these oldies come back to life. It seems you have some similar experiences? You know too much about all these addictions to not be infected by them. The truth is that we have a beautiful hobby that keeps us out of the gutter and makes us happy - most of the time
