This is a nice collectible, but as far as perfomance it pales in comparison to the CV 25/4 Color-Skopar. The Skopar is much better in resolution and exhibits only minor vignetting as compared to the Canon, which has sigificant vignetting issues.

The fact that the Canon is rangefinder-enabled while the Color-Skopar is range-focused is not a big deal in my opinion, given that DOF is so huge at this focal length.

Still, a nice collectible. I have one displayed on a Canon L1, with finder. I used this combo last week in Apalachicola to photograph some shrimp boats moored in harbor. Pretty decent lens for the time, with good contrast

Canon 25

Canon 25

On neither of the Canon 25 finders that I have do I have parallax correction in the finder or on the base and both are look different. I would like to find a finder like that.

I had one of these (it is now in the possesion of another RFFmember). A very good lens for it's day but somewaht overshadowed by more recent lenses. On point to bear in mind is that unless you can find a set of the ultra thin Canon 40mm filters, it is almost impossible to use a filter on it.

I have one of these too, and I paid close to that much(in CAD) 20 some years ago from the defunct ALT Camera in Toronto.
the price tag is still on the rear lens cap and the lens never came with its finder.
nice lens, I did buy the thinline uv 40mm for it.

I haven't tried it but I don't think it would be a good combination. Even with film you can see the falloff in the corners because of the design of the lens and the angles involved. This effect is likely to be magnified on the M8 as digital is less tolerant.

Has anyone tried the Canon 25/3.5 on an M8?

That lens has always commanded a high price but with the finder it's a very decent deal. The ZI 25/2.8 or the CV 25/4 makes more sense for performance unless you're a diehard Canon collector. I tried one years ago and performace was pretty decent, about as sharp as a 21/4 SA without as much vignetting.

I have used the lens so far on CL, CLE, M2, M6 & M8. It does work, is a little low on contrast and does work well for me on the smaller chip of the M8. I like it because of the size and it does not intrude into the frame of the viewfinder. Smaller than my 40 Cron.

Just 2 cents
