Well, it's been quite awhile since the good ol' random gallery images left the main page. I have been patient as the notice suggests, but this is getting ridiculous!
Some members made helpful suggestions that could help with managing all the data here. I wonder if those ideas were tried?

I wonder if the lack of the random image gallery is one of the reasons the gallery comments section has been, seemingly, quiet recently.Its a superb feature of this site that, as has been previously stated, allows you to view images that otherwise may not get seen. I've seen some wonderful...and not so wonderful, photographs thanks to this feature that otherwise would have passed me by. Its led to me being inspired to try new things as well as simply sparking a new idea from others work.This site has always been the best place to come for shared knowledge and inspiration and the random image gallery is the most visual embodiment of that. I too hope that it can make a return soon.

Yes, bring it back. As has been mentioned - it is about the image, however it is captured. Gear fondlers have the multitude of forums. Gear sellers have the classifieds (and now, make the rules...alas). Give the photographers back the images.
