Being a non spirits drinker, I can add nothing to this debate. However just this little story. Whilst travelling overseas in the '70's I worked in a pub in a small village in Surrey for 6 months, right in the heart of the stockbroker belt. We sold about a dozen or so different scotches from optics plus various malts as well. Every morning whilst preparing the bar for opening, we'd get all the scotches down and top up the bottles from large flagons of cheap homebrand whisky. But we never fiddled with the malts. J and B which is a very light coloured scotch was another we left undoctored. In those 6 months I never had anyone query their drink or look at we in a way that suggested they were onto the game. Hmmmmm!!
