Abbas. Always liked his work. Surprised no-one mentioned him yet.
When I was just getting into photography in the mid 80's I saw a short documentry on TV and there was this mysterious guy called Abbas with this funky looking camera and just 1 lens that travelled with just one tiny little case. I knew that was the camera I wanted.
About 20 years later and Abbas was President of Magnum and I finally got my M4 and 35mm Summicron. About another 200 years and I might be as good as he is...

The OP didn't suggest that using Leica gear improved one's photography: he just asked who used it. Nonetheless, my work improved when I got an M: I had a viewfinder/rangefinder combo that was easier to focus in low light, and easier to hand-hold. Not that I don't agree with your sentiment in general: I consider subject and light infinitely more important than any technical issue.
Leibovitz uses Ms, too: I saw her with an M6 with drive in the American Masters documentary on her.

patrickjames said:I am gonna get flamed for this post! I heard someone ask Nachtwey once what kind of film he uses.... does it really matter? Using a Leica does not make you a good photographer nor does it make your photographs better. It doesn't matter who used a Leica. Very few professionals use one any more. They are beautiful cameras though, just so you guys know what side I am on.

It is wonderfull to see all these great names
a couple of my favorites that i didn't see
William Klien, Bruce Gilden, Ben Shahn
(if i am not mistaken Ben Shahn borrowed his first camera from Walker Evans, does anyone know if Walker used a Leica for the subway shots in his "Many Are Called" book)
and a few music celebs, Bryan Adams, Andy Sumner, Ian anderson, and Eric Clapton (Leica 0)
if its good enough for them, its good enough for me

Some of you beat me to it. Yes, I too use a Leica. Finally. That and $10 for film and processing will produce another roll of bad photographs.

Bert Hardy (Picture Post photojournalist) exclusively used Leica's. Picture Post 50th Anniversary show is (as far as I can remember) still on in London at the Oxo.
I thought that Eggleston used large format?
I know that DiCorcia uses medium format exclusively, and I thought that Goldin did too.
I am a big fan of all of them, I saw my first Goldin at the MOMA last year, it blew me away, (Gina at Bruce's dinner party, cant remember the exact title off hand)
If anyone knows, did Grace Robertson also use Leicas?

"Jim Rakete" from Berlin does some nice stuff with a Leica. His book "Photographien" is one of my favorite BW books. He also did some photos of Bruce Springsteen in the 90s. Maybe that is the reason that "Bruce" got a Leica himself...

Oh, and there is "Michel Comte". He was the offical Leica MP promoter (at least here in Europe) when it first came out. Before that he was shooting a lot with Contax G2, a camera Esther Haase uses (d) as well from time to time.

To the best of my knowledge Ansel Adams used a Contax II, not a Leica. I don't have a reference for it but I think it is in one of his travel books.
Also, the actor Brendan Fraser is a Leica user. Not sure if his entire portfolio is made with Leica but he discusses developing film in hotel bathrooms some time ago and more recently using an M8 in his blog.
