Hi, I recently purchased a Nikon F and upon looking at it closer I noticed it has a engraving that says "US Navy". I was told to join and post about it here. I'm hoping to get more information about it and see if there is any value since I was in the process of disassembling it before I noticed the engravings. I bought it because I just wanted a broken camera to fix but that was before I saw the markings and if there is alot of historical significant and it is fairly valuable then I'll probably just sell it to a collector that could take better care of it and treasure it compared to me. The most infomation I could find was this Nikon F 6575600 «U.S. NAVY»

Note: Everything doesn't want to move it's seems like everything is stuck and the lens comes apart into 2 pieces

Thank you for your help guys

Ya can find some more info & pix here

Also there is a book "Nikon F The Camera" by Uli Koch where are different types are described on a few pages.

It seems that some or all were modified by the "Ehrenreich Photo Optical Industries of Cal. Inc."

Is the camera black?
Your pictures are a bit too zoomed in.
Why does it look like someone try to erase the engravings, serial number too!

Dear Nikon KIU,

Furthermore, why does the US NAVY engraving look like it was done with a Dremel tool?

Alpsman's auction camera looks like it was professionally done, the OP's not so much.

I saw that Tim. But with these images, it’s really hard to judge anything.
I can’t even read the serial number. It’s never good when someone tampers with a serial number.

Such a camera exists but then condition and being complete is very important.
Most of these cameras came motorized with a pistol grip release, does this one have a regular back? The back looks chrome?

Dear Kiu,

I guess we will learn more when the OP responds. I agree that the original photos are confusing.

There is one of these without the back on eBay.

Looks to have a replacement rewind lever, just like our picture above.
I don’t think it’s the real thing without the back…
Engraving is questionable too.

I was in the Navy from 1970 to 1976. I was a senior in college had a job lined up and my life changed because of the draft lottery. Active duty from 1971-73. Did a tour of Vietnam, on a DE ship 288 days and off one night during R&R in Hong Kong. We didn’t have any Navy cameras on our ship. I bought a Nikkormat that I used and a nice bunch of Nikon lenses. When we first arrived on the gun line in Vietnam there was,at first, no mail brought in or picked up. I still have the Nikkormat and lenses and they all still work great.
