These have been showing up lately. I'm really not keen to buy one right away, because I don't own an 85mm f2 yet, where the accuracy is really needed.

Seventy dollars is still a lot of money to pay for something like this. Any thoughts?

I also use the Leica 1.25. Great on the 0.72 but I want to try it on the 0.85 too. That makes a 1.0 mag cam!

Hi,
You should try it on a M3. The VF becomes 1.14. Great with the 90mm and 135mm.

I've been looking for a 1.25x magnifier for a few months. My summicron 90mm is a bear to get pinpoint focusing at f2 with a 0.72 finder. I have seen the $60 1.25x copies on the auction site and it seems a little more reasonable than $250+ for something that will only get occasional use. Has anyone any experience with the $60 knock-offs?
Cheers,
Nick

I have an M2, and the basic three lenses (35mm f2, 50mm f2, 90mm f2.8). I'm not even considering one of these until I find an 85mm f2.

Does anyone have any experience with either?

I had the megapearls version. Build quality is excellent and it has built in diopter adjustment. Better made than the Leica magnifier. However, I wouldn't recommend it for eyeglass wearers, as it is definitely not a high eyepoint unit.

So does anybody have any experience with the one from HK Supplies? Like many, I find it hard to justfiy spending $250+ on a little piece I won't use all the time. This one is cheaper than the Megaperls one as well, plus I'd have a hard time getting one, since they won't ship it to the US. Any more input?

Just raising this thread back to the top in an attempt to hear from anyone who has personal experience with the HK Supplies eyepiece magnifier. Anyone? Inquiring minds want to know...

Another bump. As an eyeglass wearer, I'd love to hear anyone's impression as well, especially if they have glasses. I played around with a friends noctilux last week, big mistake:bang:

I put down the cash for one of the HK magnifiers this week, I'll update you with a mini-review after I test it.

I have one on the way from HKSupplies. I plan to use it on both my .72 and .85 finders for the 75 and 90's. I'll let you know my thoughts on it after I've spent a day or so shooting with it.
No shortage of opportunities with the holidays approaching.
BTW HKSupplies was a pleasure (as always) to work with. Very responsive and accomodating.

I don't have the magnifier but I have dealt with HK Supplies. I bought a Sekonic light-meter from them at a very good price and shipping to Canada was lightning fast and trouble free. I was quite impressed with them.

Nobody's said anything about how good or bad it is using it, so far. I've also been wondering about this alternative, but don't want to be disappointed.
I guess we'd have to hope that somebody who owns both the genuine and non-Leica magnifiers could report the differences, if any, in use.

Thanks for posting this. I went ahead and ordered one since I seem to have trouble focusing my 75 'lux wide open. I was about to order a new one for $275!!! I recently tested one on my MP 0.85 and it brought in the 75mm frameline beautifully. It brings the 50mm frames a little too close to the edges of the VF (on the 0.85 that is) for my taste. If it's built similar to the Leica version, it should screw in behind a diopter. I hope this works for me. Once again thanks for the tip!!
