I am thinking of visiting Baltimore with someone for just 1 day.
Driving from NJ and back

I have never never been to Baltimore.
Could you recommend me some MUST-SEE things in Baltimore please?
Only 1 day....

help appreciated.
would be nice if it is all in the area so that I wont get lost driving.
tips on parking also most appreciated. dont want to deal with car jacking
thank you so much!!!!!!!!!

Fels Point and the Aquarium is all I remember. Fels Point will be good for people shooting, and kids jumping off the stage thing on skateboards. Then again, I was there ages ago. The aquarium is supposed to be one of the best in the country.

BTW, just noticed you're from Edison. I grew up in Monmouth County, in Ocean.

I'm not an expert on B-more, but perhaps you can tell us what sort of things you're interested in seeing?

The Inner Harbor area is nice, but I've found it to be kind of boring (like other "festival marketplaces," e.g., S. Street Seaport, Faneuil Hall, Riverwalk, etc.).

IMHO, & @ the risk of offending folks from both Baltimore & Philladelphia, Baltimore is kind of like a little Phillly & its main attractions are its various neighborhoods, the covered markets, & quirky institutions like the American Visionary Art Museum.

Isn't the USS Constellation (200 year old frigate) docked there? That would be interesting. Also, Fort McHenry (where Francis Scott Key beheld th' bombs bursting in air). There's a fine art museum too, adjacent to the Johns Hopkins campus.

Baltimore, like Philadelphia, is one of those cities that seem to be really well-kept secrets -- a lot more going on than the casual visitor might expect. But you should try the city's website to find out about special events.

Consider the Mt. Vernon area of the city which is a mile or so north of the harbor via Charles St. The original Washington Monument is there and you can climb to the top for a 360 degree birdseye view. Locust Point/ Ft McHenry is just a little south east of the harbor and that's very nice and should keep you busy. Fells Point/Canton is great too as it's going though gentrification. Further east is Patterson Park with a great Pagoda and park to photograph. Lastly there's Druid Hill Park which was designed by Olmstead who also did Central Park in New York. There's a great zoo near that park too.

In general I would have to agree, but, no one ever pelted Santa Clause with snow balls in Baltimore. 🙂

It is going to be hard to get a feel for B'more in only one day. In addition to the Constellation there is the USS Torsk . The aquarium is one of the best in the country.

You could also rent a bunch of John Waters movies and do location hunts.

E. A. Poe house

The Walters is a good way to spend a day.

The wrought iron work on Peabody Library is a sight to behold.

I have always found Pigtown and the docks an interesting place.

The bar attached to top floor restaurant in Hyatt hotel on the inner harbour has good views over the harbour an is close to pick-up point for the water taxies that do a round trip of the inner harbour, you buy a ticket and get on and off as many times as you want lots to go at, it also takes in Fort McHenry (the one we couldn’t take untill 1815) all very safe and “touristy”
