That's my impression, too.
It would be interesting to see images that reflect the other half of that division. For instance, are the, for want of an alternative term, "pro-Erdogan" faction mounting counter demonstrations? Are they feeling threatened by what seem to be turning into riots?
Without balance, a stream of images, of this nature, could be seen as propaganda, which I think would be unfortunate.
Did you see this BBC link I posted earlier, it throws some light on that aspect From Our Own Corespondent podcast ... if you have access too it that is

that´s always the case with those young leftish photographers: all you ever get from them is an unbalanced stream of riot pictures, or even war pictures. just think of robert capa in the spanish civil war!
i also would like to see some pictures in defence of the teargassing and rubberbulleting going on. but even the official webcams spying on taksim square are shut down. maybe most of the erdoganists are just unable to handle that incredible new media stuff.....?

[Edit: Obviously I misunderstood the irony. So no offence...]

Most interesting. I double-checked and it didn't work for me either a few moments ago, although it's exactly the same URL --I think it's ok now (for the link).

i have never claimed to deliver an all-encompassing picture of the entirety of the protests here (as it turns out, i can only be in one place at a time, unfortunately). i am personally affected by these events. i am obviously siding with the protesters more than i do with tayyip and his police forces in this. but i have also sat down with and talked to policemen here more than once, and BIG SHOCK they are humans as well. i regard nobody i see / meet on the street as my enemy, whether they are police, protesters, akp supporters, circus performers or transsexual porn stars. i have never told a lie about what i have seen.
if anyone has a problem with what i'm doing they should either look the other way and go complain somewhere else, or come over here and spend a day (and night) in this. i will pay for the tea, either in kasımpaşa or in gazi mahallesi or anywhere else, your choice.
after that you should watch the show/speech tayyip pulled off today again, and compare his words to what you (would) have seen.
ankara has had protests all along. in fact, there were far fewer 'calm' nights there than in istanbul, the agencies have a lot of footage and pictures from there. other cities have also seen major protests.
also, if you still think this is simply about left against right, religious against secular, or old against young, you are either badly informed & relying on bad sources, or just deliberately ignorant.

Well said, Simon. This is a complex, multi-faceted conflict, and you've never shied away from that fact.

Simon, I do thing there is some facebook groups of protester. Post there, if you can, to carry cameras. In our protest, there are a lot people with DSLRs,SLR, cameras. That stops police to do something stupid. After all, no one wants to be exposed as a guerilla on steroids. Policemen are citizens to, and they have families and friends to live with.
Try to make it like we did and we are now doing (3 day of protest in Bulgaria).
