Sounds about right!

Shouldn't be too hard for them to find the buyers. This program has been going for at least 12 years as one of the dealers mentioned on their website. So, while the days tick off, I will be shooting the rest of my current 50' roll.

I have plenty of spools and paper to learn cutting 120 film down to size and I am looking forward to shooting Provia, Velvia, Ektar, FP4, etc., so I guess I better get busy learning!

Thanks for the heads-up David. I think I'm gonna pass. If they had FP4+ in 46mm I'd be all over it as that's been my new "happy film" of late (I can get it in 2.25 x 3.25 and 6.5 x 9cm sheets), but I've never been much of a fan of their HP5+ film. I'll probably just keep cutting down 120.

What is the cost of a 50ft roll of the 46mm?

Oh, btw, I just noticed I forgot to answer as the prices were not listed. So far, I have seen like $135+ per roll at Blue Moon and Ultrafine, but ordered mine from Freestyle at $115. Yep, more than I would normally like to pay but, the experience of shooting the Baby Rolleiflex is worth the extra cost.

If I was shooting a TLR with 120, I would pick up the 503cxi almost every time instead because a TLR is just too limiting for what I shoot. But the Baby Rolleiflex... it is certainly a different experience. Looking forward to seeing what I can do with it. But it will take a minute.:angel:

And, then there are the Kodak cameras.

I fancy trying out the 127 film on a Vest Pocket Kodak and a few others. Again, the experience of using the old classics is something I will not want to look back and wish I had done it, but just didn't for the lack of film which is actually readily available with a little planning.

No, sorry, I meant that anyone can place an order with Freestyle at $115/roll. It will be delivered to you in the Fall. Then you will be able to roll 24/25 rolls from the 50' bulk roll. I changed the wording above... thanks!

I ordered two 50' rolls.

Between that, and cutting 120 film to 127, I can be shooting the BR for a long time!

It is important to support the ULF program, if we don't, where are we going to get our specialty films, like 127? HP5 not your preference? We can always cut 120 film down with your choice of film, but not in volume unless you really don't have much else to do...😀

I find rolling several rolls at a time from a 50' bulk roll is easy, and somewhat relaxing. I also can relax with bulk roll film in the freezer. But cutting 120 film down to 127 (for 50 rolls this year) is more work than I would like to do. That is why I like the ULF program, at least I have film that is readily available to use with just a little effort once every couple of weeks. The rest of what little personal time I have, I plan to be shooting!

The ULF program has been going a long time but if we don't support it, there is zero chance we will have a choice of film in 127 ready to use, in the future.

I've had my 50' roll of 46mm HP5+ for a few years already and haven't even gotten to it due to all the other 127's I gathered along the way. I also still have about 80' of Portra 160 in 46mm to spool up. I'll be shooting 127 from beyond the grave! 😀

Just to confirm, and sorry if this is a stupid question - when ordering the 50’ roll of HP5, you’re just getting the film itself, right? And you’d then have to source the backing paper yourself?

Just trim some 120 paper down the the correct size and length and you can use them over and over. The fun part is spooling the film onto it in the darkroom.... It really is kind of fun once you've practiced a few times.

I recently got one of those 120/127 film cutting kits from Claudio Bettio at Camerhack, and I think I need to practice it a bunch more times (though it really is quite an ingenious design). Two things I discovered: i) I have to be careful that the film doesn't unspool itself once it's removed from the cutting container (maybe I should do this in a changing bag etc); ii) 120 film is much longer than 127 film, so I have to trim the length of it as well (Claudio does discuss this in an instructional YouTube video). Another thing is that once cut, the numbers on the backing paper are barely visible through the camera's red window (once you cut the film and backing paper, the numbers you need are no longer centered). So just a few things I need to work on, unless you guys have any suggestions to make life easier.

Dealers normally take orders and if it reaches 23 rolls they order, if they don’t make it they do not. B+H and Freestyle are good bets to make it there.
