135/4 Tele-Elmar

Not an interesting picture Ray but the lens renders the image very pleasingly. The attached shot was taken at f4.

Yes, it does look very nice. How do you find handholding the lens, Peter? Which version do you have?

No problems handholding Ray, I haven't actually used it on the tripod yet... Mine is the first version Tele-Elmar, page 165 in the Hove book 7th ed. if you have it. I think it's a pretty good lens.

Thanks, Peter. I have been doing some reading on this lens, and it appears to be a very good one. Bargain-priced, too, for leica at least, in the used market.

I'm sorry, I have lots of pix made with that lens (mine's a first version, early with deeply scalloped rings, bought as "KEH bargain" but looks like new to me) but since I don't keep a record of what lens I use for each shot I can't be certain which ones to show. All I can say is that for the $265 it cost me it's the best value/dollar of any Leica lens I've ever had. I have the short focusing mount for it also, that goes on the Visoflex. Great lens IMHO.

This lens ranks along side the 40mm Summicron as one of those supurb Leica lenses that can had for little money. Many say its not worth spending 5 times more for the 3.4 APO 135.

So Ray I found a couple more on my hard disk from the 135 Tele-Elmar. The first two are from the same session as the one I posted at the top of this thread, I just moved across the room to shoot at an angle to the light. The third one was taken at a Chelsea vs. AC Milan match at Gillette Stadium.

Thanks, Peter! I will be posting some shots in the not too distant future. My elmar is in the mail from KEH. 🙂

You were right. These RFF meets are very dangerous. 😉
