135mm Elmarit-M Lens with Goggles

Menos, here's a link of my description of rf alignment for the 135/2.8 Elmarit-M posted several years ago on pnet: http://photo.net/leica-rangefinders-forum/00I0KR. Makes no difference on which version. From your description of lens condition and vintage, I'd say it was only worth about 175 Euros based on being version 1 with cleaning marks on the goggles. Here's a link on prices which is reasonable or possibly slightly low: http://www.antiquecameras.net/leicamlenses.html. George Ury has a mint version 2 for $650 but I think that's about $75 too high. No relation to the seller but here's a link to a nice one with the correct hard "D" case: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/pho/1608837324.html.

Bottom line, I'd return it as it's way overpriced at 450 EUR.

Alan, Thanks a lot for the extensive informations!
It turns out, my lens would be the same lens, as the linked craiglist item.

Based on the amount of work and the high price, I paid, I will return the lens. thanks again for the valuable information!

Alan - it is the same vintage (so the one, I had was a version 2 sample ?).

I brought it back today.
There are two things, that really helped me with this 135 lens, having it for half a day:

I did set my RF of the M8.2 again, to meet better across my lenses including the 135, which was at one extreme end from all the lenses infinity focus setting.
This experiment resulted in having my 50 Lux perfect spot on again, which I planned to ship for CLA and coding.

I used it the whole afternoon and it fits now wonderfully to my M8.2.

The second thing is, that I now had my first experience with a 135mm lens on a Leica rangefinder. Very revealing experience, which reminds me, how good my 70-200 f2.8 actually is on a D3.
I was hoping for a eye opening experience with the Elmarit, but found, it is not for me.
I will continue, to enjoy small, light and fast lenses on RFs.

The longer glass surely fits better on a SLR.
