$150 BIN on black Canon 100/3.5

Yeah, i think that list is usually a bit too low. I have been watching these for a while, and finally ending up buying a real nice example here on RFF.

The 100/2 is hard to find, but even harder to focus. If I use a 100mm lens it usually this one, because it is half the size and less than half the weight of the 100/2 lens. (220 grams vs. 515 grams)

Thanks for fueling GAS here!
I have at least 4 85mm-90mm lenses, plus a 105mm lens.
This was the main reason why I didnot buy that 100mm/3.5 lens at such a price.

I don't know about $130-175, but I just bought it - thanks for the tip. Black Canon LTM lenses in good shape are all getting rare now.

Well I do think that price guide site is low on most items - I don't know where the information comes from, but I guess its hard to keep updated anyway.

It may be a little high or low on any particular item, but in general I think it is in the ballpark. Dan monitors ebay sales and asking prices at some respectable retailers I believe to set his ranges. The market for a rare or pristine sample of anything will always potentially rise higher than the average item.

$150 for a 100/3.5 is a good price, IMO, and may be a really good buy if the glass is in great condition. I have the older chrome and black version, and it's a very sharp little lens. And "little" is one of its virtues too: it doesn't weigh much or take up much room in a bag.

There are't many telephoto lenses so usefull, lightweight and sharp as the Canon 100/3.5 in any version, and to have one of the rare black ones is pure luxury and elegance. You can take it in your jacket and always don't know you have it untill you need it.

If you have a clean one, keep it, because they tend to develop fungus in one of the back elements. They are easy to dismount but sometimes cleaning is impossible.

The 100/2 is heavy and a rare collectors piece. I haven't seen a good example going for less than 300 USD for years.
