Hello everybody,

This is my first post. I'm glad I joined. I'm Maciek from Poland. Just got my first rf camera. I bought the Canon P from Japan, it is indeed in very good visual condition, although it had a problem with slower speeds. It was cheaper because of that. 1s-1/8th of a sec does not work at all and I was aware of that. I thought that maybe I can repair this myself. The problem is completely stuck black ring at the bottom, so there is no way to get into the camera. Somebody already tried to force open it as you can see on the attached image.

What would you suggest? My ideas are orbiting around using liquid wrench, drill alternative holes with my dremel maybe. Id like to ask first though, before ruining anything.

I can happily answer myself, just for the people seeking similar issues.
I used a bit of liquid wrench. Waited some time and I've put the camera on the carpet, grabbed it firmly, and with my whole body (but with care of course) I've put downward force (and I mean downward force) to be the most perpendicular as possible to the bottom of camera. Started turning and boom - it worked like a charm. Damn I was happy 😉. And now after all the quite typical operations, like opening the body, taking out the slow speed escapement mechanism, using good quality lighter fluid and oil for watches, all is working nicely. Happy one more time 🙂.
