$1999 Fujifilm X100s?

Well. . . it does say "(price may vary by options selected)" - I guess the $1999 may be the 'ultra deluxe' package or something.

Well, isn't Precision Camera one of this site's sponsors? Maybe they can (or their rep can) respond accordingly to the query.

Cheers,
Dave

Not shipping in the US until March--likely you are paying an early adopter tax. Wait a couple months and you'll get one for $1300.

Right now Amazon shows $1299.95.

Perhaps Precision missed a typo in their ad.

I know a reliable camera shop in St. Louis you could try.

Popflash.com is a site sponsor and I think they're selling the Fuji! Otherwise, use Camera West. Both stores are located in CA.

Many places will be selling them eventually...but most non-NY stores don't list it on their site for pre-order yet. The first non US store that lists it is precision camera. In the past they accepted pre-orders at typical prices. I guess I was shocked to see them list it at $1999 instead of $1299 since price gouging is typically not their style.

I just don't know how 'you guys' get away with it :) Up here, we order out of country OR out of province and we will ALWAYS get hit with sales tax. I always shake my head at how you guys in NY can order from NJ and avoid paying sales tax.. I just wonder how that works..

Cheers,
Dave

Most likely we are supposed to pay it somewhere... when you file your return or whatever. My tax guy always asks me if I purchased anything on the internet this year. If a store does not do physical business in a particular state, then we don't get charged online if we order from that state.

Same in California. We have to pay CA sales tax now on online purchases. I think it's a good thing for the bricks and mortar stores locally. Also, our state needs the revenue.

No taxation without representation! :)

Its the same here in Arkansas you are supposed to self report at the end of the year and then pay the state tax. They tried to pass a law a year or so ago where they were going to start monitoring sales from big sites like amazon and ebay to catch it in both directions. Sales from and purchases from outside the state. I don't think they realized how impossible that would be.

It has definitely helped at the store I work at. With now 9% sales tax in berkeley, the tax is often more than what we make on cameras and lenses!
FWIW Fuji has been pretty great at supporting independent retailers.
Can't wait till we get the new cameras in!

I believe that has been the law for sixty years.. long before Internet, but they are enforcing the law given the need for money in a state that spends money without limits, or concern for those that they are bleeding dry.
