hi all,

just finishing developing my first roll of film ever. Did use film before the digital age, but mostly color and allways labprocessed.

And here is the mistake; i was in the proces of agitating my acros in xtol in my patterson tank with the little "screwer" everthing was going well and then i wanted to mix my fixer, i had this bottle of fixer, right?
Not, i thought i had some left over after a 4x5 polaroid print/negative experiment, i was SURE! Not, it was Amoloco :bang:laboclean...

I did finish the proces, washing etc and now its drying. We will see what the consequences are of not using fix at all!

Monday it's back to the store...🙁

(btw is a Stop bath needed, i get bit mixed info on this..)

well, not being an expert, I'd think the effects of not using fix means that your film will continue to expose. IRRC, the developer turns exposed parts of the negative black, and fixer removes all the undeveloped and unexposed silver. So you can skip fixing temporarily, and come back later and fix the film properly. In the mean time, I'd think the negative would look odd.

FWIW, I've always used water as a stop between developing and fixing.

40oz is right. It would probably have been best if you had kept them in the dark until you could fix them. Don't let anything get on the negs besides water (especially developer), or they will get fogged. Without fixing, they will probably look cloudy and would be hard to print or scan, because the undeveloped silver has not been washed out. I would roll them back onto the reel and put them in the tank until you can fix them.

I always use water for a stop bath and have never had a problem.

Please post some examples when you're done. I'm curious to see how this turns out. Good luck.

Pity Jasper,
even when the emulsion isn't getting a lot darker in the light, it will still be on the film and you probably won't be able to shine light through it, in other words, use it as a negative.

Just try it again, we've all gone through this.... your next roll will be "perfect"

Kop op!

Just got home after biking by the shop and got me a fresh bottle of x89 extrafix and a bottle of s10 stop ( just to be on the safe side ) my next roll will be a pushed trix (1250 iso) wich i will develop in xtol! Hope i will be "perfect" roll!
