1st roll of Tri-x in ... 25 yrs

Finally tried Tri-x home development after being chronically disappointed in lab-developed XP2, portra, ektar, you name it. Shot a roll in New Orleans last week, developed it at home and scanned it in... And wow am I happy with it. I don't think I'll go back to the labs again. If I want colour I will either shoot DSLR or use provia and find a lab somewhere out of town ... By truthfully I am really surprised at how good my results are.

Nice work. I discovered many years ago that no lab, not even the most expensive pro labs, can do black and white processing well. I always tell people who aren't happy with their BW photos to start processing it themselves...it always makes a difference.

pig2, my lab experience closely matches yours. I'm getting B&W bulk film so I can shoot more of it.

The photos look good. If you want to save yourself the hassle of preparing D76, try Tri X @EI 250-320, HC110 1:50, 6:30 min, agitation a couple of inversions every 30 seconds.

+1 for HC110, a bottle lasts for ages and is so convenient.

This has been my experience as well. Nobody takes better care of your negatives than yourself!

Just don't get too excited and shoot so much film that you get behind in developing. I found I had 41 rolls of 35mm B&W and 10 rolls of 120 B&W that had piled up before I noticed. Took 10 days to work through that lot.
