2 zeiss ikon questions

would the camera benefit from using a mini soft release on it?

to use ltm lenses on it i assume there is a need for ltm to m adapters, on the zi are the framelines automatic meaning i would need a 28 adapter to use a 28 and bring up the correct fl?

i think this is correct and if so, does anyone have a spare 28 adapter for sale?

Not sure about the MSR as when I handled the Ikon it had no batteries, so I couldn't even wind the film advance lever. As far as the framelines, yes, they are automatic. You will need a 28mm adaptor in order to see the 28mm framelines. There is no manual selection of the lines.

Yes, the framelines are automatic indexing so you need the proper adaptor. The Murami adaptors are available from the outfit in Canada, and I noticed they are now being offered on ebay by B&H.

I checked the Ikon in a local store and found that the shutter release does not necessarily need the MSR. I liked it more than the release of the Bessas.

oh geez, i can't afford a new obsession rover!

but i want to try at least the 28 on the zeiss seeing how it has the built in framelines.

and i have an 85 canon lens to suit the built in 85 framelines.

so that would give me a 28/35/50/85 kit.

brian is shipping me an adapter for the 50 this week so the sonnar will have a second home.

and it all will fit into my mclassics bag.

oh yeah!! even had a dream about the camera the other night.

i notice that popflash has them in stock again so now it's a matter of sitting by the door for the postman.

From the Zeiss website. Hard to tell if the frame selector "locks on" or is just a preview.

So either one size will work with all, or you need the 90mm adapter for the Leica.

wouldn't it be neat if it could be locked for when you used screwmount lenses, and left on automatic the rest of the time?

You could get a soft release but I see no purpose in it. The shutter button is a two-stage release with a very short throw. A soft release might cause accidental firings, I think. But you would need to try it to see what you think.
